Tone's

Just a thought, but I would like to get several opinion's on how many use multi-tones, four-tones or other. Just like to see what everyone else uses, Thanks....

I use multi most of the time for old coins but like 4 tone when I find a old site without much 1950s or later trash.If I were relic hunting I think 2 tones would be good,Ray.
PS. Nothing like that high strong silver tone to make your day.

I use 4 tones only. After using the etrac since September and have learned simply that when the highest tone sounds off you better be investigatin' lol. TMAN...

I use conductive audio, multitone, maxed variability, gain-24, thresh pitch-1, normal and pitch hold response. for me this setup seems to give the most audio information. After testing merc next to nails and getting a consistent reading of 27-28, 46 I will most likely avoid ferrous audio, unless the dig is clean of iron but what is the probability of that, LOL

I use Multi....I think it's one of the e-trac's greatest attributes as it gives so much information real time. I also prefer normal as it reflects what is under the coil better......good tones can be very short though so be careful!!

I'm saying with multi for now. I've been using the Etrac since Sept, and will probably experiment with the other tone options after more hours on the machine.

i noticed a post that said if you hear a high tone you should investigate---I am a novice...would you dig if the tone is not consistent? say only beeps 1 out of 2-4x?

Multi tone! I did try 4-tone for a short while but I knew I was missing some things the E-Trac wanted to say! It's probably just me but.... it would be like buying a Lamborghini and never getting out of first gear!

Thanks guys, just for the record I use Multi its a great tool, but I understand the 4 tones are working really well for several relic hunters in my area. Take care.. lets see the Silver!!!!

Well i did a test with the e-trac and found that long will help unmask targets. Try putting a dime in the ground 3 inches down then place a pull tab on the surface about 3 inches away. try using normal then try it with long. my test showed me that normal caused just a tone on the tab but long made the tab and dime hit together producing a strange long tone that went from high down to a lower tone or vise verso. the point remained the same, the dime came in and that's what we all want.
