Took the SE and the digital camera out today

Come to find out my camera has no audio. So much for that. I banged the coil off everything I could hit with it and no falsing.
One thing bothered me though. that was when I had a sweet silver signal and I could not get the cursor off the top left corner of the screen. I played with that signal for quite a while before I gave up and dug it. It was a 1939 quarter about 4-5 inches deep and no other signal after I removed it. Makes me wonder how many coins are missed because of that. I was convinced it was a coin from the tone. And it was. So if you get a sweet signal in the left corner I'd check it.

Before you dug it, did you check it in pinpoint and try to find more than one target in area? You could have broke the halo of other target after you dug...there must have been some kind of iron somewhere...I have dug nickles at the beach where it was way left but same height as a nickle and also last time I found nickles coming up as crown cap far right bottom....weird I know....but beach is very high in iron and minerals.....so it will slurr the curser ....now that I think of it the audio was not like a nickle but where audio would be for location of curser....even weirder....oh well just dig it all and you will be sure what it is...this is not the usual...so I am stumped...maybe I shouldn't have responded cause I have an XS...but same same sorta

Not this time but did a few times with the old SE and it read 30 29 and 31 30.
I remember reading where someone dug a half dollar in the upper left corner and I just kind of blew it off. Now it happened to me.
I tone hunt anyway and lots of times I will dig a target without even looking at the screen if the tone is right. I think that's what made me stay with this one instead of moving on.

Once several years ago using the XS I found a '45 Walking Liberty Half at 5 inches that hit clear to the
left also. I didn't find anything else with it but it just sounded so good I had to dig it. Can you dig it?

That's a perfect example of WHY an Explorer user should always hunt first and foremost by SOUND and not by what is displayed.
To many folks are meter/screen dependent and end up walking away from good targets.
Have found myself doing the same thing after hunting with ID machines for long periods of time. To break the habit I'll either cover the screen with a piece of paper or use a non ID machine for awhile
Also actually learned the sounds of the Explorer by covering the screen for the first few months, guess I'm just to simple minded.
I mean heck man, after learning what a good target sounds like, it's easy enough to tell how deep it is from the sound.
