Took the XL PRO for a spin this morning and struck silver AND GOLD:surprised:

My SE has been getting all my attention for the past few weeks but the old faithful XL PRO was wagging it's tail this morning....so I took her for a spin
I was training a lady at the YMCA yesterday and she was telling me of how she lost a big sterling ring a few years ago at an old ball diamond. She said the diamond is now used as a soccer field and people line up to sit on lawn chairs in the same few spots each week. Well now!!!!...She tipped me off to the spot and I told her I would try and find her ring for doing so. It is PRIVATE property and she knew the owner...I got permission...and was granted rights to keep what I found even though it would be only stuff from 1995 on up.
Off I went in a light drizzle. The XL PRO was just begging for action and did NOT let me down. I had about 2 hours of hunt time before returning back to work. Within 20 minutes I found the sterling ring just as she had described with the big stone in the center. It was very rewarding to find it knowing I would be able to return it to her as it had great sentimental value to her. I kept plugging along the spectator section picking up 31 quarters which more than paid for my gas. I then got a sweet foil hit on the analog of the smooth xl pro...BUT it sounded different from the previous can slaw foil hits. It was very distinct yet soft and the meter just locked right between the f and o on "foil". I dug down less than 2" and out popped this gorgeous 14K earing WITH a nice 1/4 carat diamond and a few smaller ones set in as well. The back was broken off which is why it was obviously lost. I checked the diamonds as soon as I got home and BINGO,,,the're good...AND VERY CLEAN.
The big diamond alone should be worth at least $150 to $200. Dang...I wish both earings would have broken and fallen off ...but I'll, gladly settle for this one little beauty.
Returned the sterling ring a few minutes ago to a very happy owner...so it was a great morning inthe drizzle.
The sweet 14k diamond earing was unexpected icing on the cake. "Old faithful"...the XL PRO... was more than ready to go to the dance and can still cut a rug with the best of them!

Bryce:

Congratulations on finding the ladies ring !!! Nice find for yourself in the diamond recovery...
Good seeing you back on the Whites forum..It's been a while.

I just seem to miss the other half of the fun. That other half is strictly the joy of just swingin' the coil and having a good time. It was great finding the ring for her and the earing was an added bonus out of nowhere.

destroy the 10,000 coin mark and that is amazing. Keep on' pounding that hill and I bet you are rewarded with some more goodies.

I needed a spot...went through a couple bad weeks....but this spot has been steady now for 3 trips...Hopefully the second half of hill gives me the same amount as first half...if it does I can hit goal there.

out standing hit bryce!..beats hell out of clad don't it?..i gotta say it's kinda nuts, but findin' silver gets me there!..after many years of chasing silver,i guess i am just focused and dialed in!...

right at 30 years now. I just love going back to hunted out places and trying to pull one more deep silver coin out. I've been really "dialed" in with my SE for deep silver hits but I still love to take the xl pro for runs when I can. It is just fun to hunt with and is a killer on small items.

me too!..since '77!..always used whitey's instruments!..started with a high frequency tr,then series 2,3,and finally the xl-pro!..found my share, but you really have to be dedicated, and spend tons of time afield these days to find the stuff!..i just retired this year, and will do some outside maintenance to the house ,then head afield
to finish the season off, then hit the books for the coming spring when i will be hunting full time!....had this planned for a long time, and finally it's coming to fruition!

Congratulations Bryce, nice finds indeed. If you can, get a picture of you returning the ring to owner and sent it to me. As a member of PATH, you will receive a very nice framed certificate of appreciation with the photo and story of your returned find.

getting a picture as I was so excited to find the earing on top of getting the ring back to her. I was also rushed to get back to work and it all just truthfully never entered my mind. I will be prepared next time though if I get the chance to try and locate a lost item for someone again. It was a great feeling.
By the way...forget locating me a used bigfoot coil for my xl pro...I couldn't wait any longer..so I ordered a new one about 2 days ago. I know....Just like a little kid...but I just couldn't wait. I want to take it to the spot I located the lady's ring and found the earing at. Heck I found over 30 quarters there...and I want to pound the area for clad with the bigfoot.
