Tough hunt on Saturday but still managed a few keepers.

Hello all! Here's another batch of goodies that I was able to recover on Saturday. Hope you enjoy the pics and the story.

Tim, Dale and I once again headed out early Saturday Morning to add more goodies to our 2009 finds and to our monthly totals for our find of the month finds. We stopped off at a few different locations and really didn't start making any finds until around noon.

We stopped off and tried a rest area that looked old and Tim found 2 Wheats and Dale and I only Clad.

We then moved on down the road and tried a Park that once had housing in it from the looks of it and Tim got 2 Injuns and 2 Wheats from here. I was only able to dig up a Good For Token and a couple Wheats and Dale only found a Wheat or 2. After trying this, we decided to go check out a Fairgrounds.

The finds from the Fairgrounds were pretty good, but mostly in Tim's favor it seemed. The ground was either mineralized or had a ton of iron in it since some spots you could only get about 6" of Depth...that is if you were lucky. I tried my Joey Coil for awhile and found a few Wheats along with a Barber Quarter. I talked to Tim and he told me the stuff was there and that there was Barber here. He then proceeded to tell me that he had found a Barber Half, a Barber Dime, a couple Mercs, Rosie's, and a bunch of Wheats. I told him that I had only found a few Wheats and the Barber Quarter. We then started hunting again and I went to put the Pro Coil back on since Tim said a lot of the Coins were fairly Deep. I come back and Dale asked if I had found anything and I told him that I had just found a Barber Quarter and a few Wheats. I then told him of Tim's luck and it both turned out stomachs. We then started hunting again and before we left, I had found 3 Mercs, 1 Rosie, and a bunch more Wheats. Tim had found a few more Wheats, a Silver Quarter, and a few other Silver Dimes. As for Dale, he was still in a slump and only found more Wheats.

We then headed over to a Park before it got late and here...Tim still walked into the spots where the finds were. I found a Rosie and a few Wheats, Dale only found Wheats, and Tim got a few Silver Dimes and a bunch more Wheats. It was Tim's time to shine I guess and he had luck on his side to swing his coil over top of the area's where the Silver were. Dale never found a Silver Coin and you could see just how much it was bothering him since he couldn't put his coil over a single Silver Coin during the day. As for me, I did find Silver but Tim was the lucky one to nab more than his share on this outing.

My finds were 6 Silver. They included a Barber Quarter dated 1906, 3 Mercury Dimes dated 1935-d,1936,1941-d, and 2 Silver Roosevelt Dimes dated 1946-d and 1964-d. For Wheats, I found 32 of them. They were dated 11,15,18-d,20,26,34-d,35,36,36-d,(2)39,40-d,41,41-d,41-s,42,44,(2)44-d,45-d,45-s,46,(3)46-d,47-d,49-d,53-d,53-s,54-d and (2)57-d. I also found 3 Tokens. An Aluminum Token that reads Good For ? In Trade on the front and reads J.M. Henry Waubay, S.D. on the back, a Freedom Token that has No Cash Value on the back and a Horse Shoe and Star Token that has an Eagle on the reverse and reads No Cash Value above and below the Eagle. Misc. Finds included a Merry Widows Can, a Kawasaki Key, a smashed Kids Ring, a Plastic Item with the letter B on it, an Aluminum Heart that has Dale on one side and Pam on the other, and a Decorative Item with Leaves and Flowers on it, made from either Brass or Bronze.

Well, that does it for this round and hope you enjoyed my finds from the latest hunt. Thanks for looking and Good Luck and HH to you all.

Anytime i walk away with a Barber thats a great day for me. Way to go James.

Good story and even better digs my friend.:clapping: I was wondering when you were going to post again with some nice finds. It's raining here at the moment, but it's suppose to clear up by Thursday and my buddy Bugsy and I are going back to the West side. Good luck on your next outing James. HH.

Eddie

ANOTHER FINE HUNT JAMES  TELL DALE TO HANG IN THERE THE SILVER WILL COME,:veryangry: I FELL HIS PAIN. YOU MIGHT WON'T TO LEAVE TIM AT HOME NEXT TIME:devil: MAN HE'S ON A ROLE AND YOU DID PRETTY WELL YOURSELF:please: I CAN TELL YOU HAD YOUR WHEATIES JAMES, NICE JOB...PHIL

Nice finds James....enjoyed reading your post and thanks for
taking us along with you on your hunts via pics and story.
Congrats on the silvers and wheats..... they cleaned up nice
and you found some great dates.
You guys will probably get some rain or ? shortly as it is raining
again here in Oregon. Gold Nuggets:wiggle:

Still a pretty good bunch of finds, James, tough or not. I feel like the majority of my outings are kind of tough. Last weekend was pretty good even though I hunted nearly all day both days to get what I got. I'm impressed by the number of wheats you get most of the time. It's often 20-30+. I've got over 30 a couple of times but most of the time I have trouble getting in double figures in wheats. Sunday at one park I found 4 silver dimes, but only ONE wheat, which seemed really strange to me, although I probably shouldn't complain about that.

Nice finds James.
We have rain here..and it looks to be settled in for the week.
Unless I put some waders on...and I just might...this week doesn't look good.

dress up like a Duck and take your detector with....since Ducks seem to like wet weather. :poke::rofl: Now wouldn't that be a site in a park??? A guy out detecting in a Duck Costume when it's raining outside! Just make sure you don't dress up like Daffy Duck...he tends to spit a lot when taking.:lmfao::rofl: Thanks for the reply Bryce and hope your able to get out during the week. Good Luck and HH Buddy!

Don't know about the weekend yet but will have my fingers crossed. Glad to know you enjoy the pics and posts I put up. Gives the reader a little more info and realism when the post is with a brief story of how finds were made and how the progress was during the hunt. Thanks for the reply and hope the weather doesn't stick around too long in your neck of the woods. Good Luck and HH.

that others have cherry picked some sites that I have visited due to the amount of Wheats left versus the Silver found. Doesn't matter to me though, you never know when one of them Wheats will be a good one and just the more chances for me to find one. Thanks for the reply and congrats on the 4 Silver and 1 Wheat ratio you had. I would love to take that any day. Good Luck and HH to you Small Change.:detecting:

Nice finds man!! It has been a while since i have pulled a Barber Quarter.. Keep up the fine work man!!!

Nice bunch of coins AGAIN!! and sure wished Dale could have done better as I know how it feels when everyone is getting silver and I don't. It is just getting the coil over it and understand what the detector is telling you. Tim said he had Dale check some of his signal he got with the E-Trac with Dales Safari and he got them just fine so if he would have got the coil over it he should have got it.
Tim Showed me his total and it was 16 silver and 46 wheat penny he got with the E-Trac with many of them in with nails and other trash as he said it was very trashy at the fairgrounds.

Good job James as you guy show us all these places are not worked out as some say they are until they been Explored and E-Traced.

Rick

at home but he is the one doing the driving so we can't really do that. Tim is just on a lucky streak right now but all things do come to an end sooner or later. I'm sure Dale will get some Silver next time out and if he doesn't, well....then I think he will go insane and he will have to be committed. Glad you liked this round of finds once again Phil. And yes, I did have my Wheaties on this trip out. Thanks for looking and Good Luck and HH to you.:detecting:

back out again this weekend and see what I can find again. I hope to land a Barber Half myself since it's been over a year now since I myself have dug one of these coins and with a little luck, hopefully it will be an older one that will beat Tim's out at the Find Of The Month Competition. I hope you have some luck when you return to the West Side Eddie and hope to see some nice Silver's on your next post. Thanks for the reply and Good Luck and HH to you on your next hunt.:detecting:

Especially when the Barber is the bigger type! Thanks for the reply and Good Luck and HH to you.

he was just lucky in swinging over the areas where the Silver was that's all. I actually took a break for about 15-20 minutes twice during Saturday and if I would have continued hunting, I think I would have been pretty close to Tim's Totals on Wheats. Dale's doing well with the Safari and I'm sure that next time out, he will get his share of Silver. Thanks for the reply Rick and hope you get out somewhere and do some detecting. Good Luck and HH to you.

3rd Barber Quarter in 4 weeks now, since I have only gotten out 1 day during the weekend so far, it seems the Quarters are coming fairly easy at the moment but I'm sure that will change. Glad you liked the finds and hope you land a Barber Quarter soon yourself. Thanks for looking and Good Luck and HH to you on your next hunt.

Great job again James. Multiple silvers is definitely your standard day and i applaud you for that. Love the Barber quarter, i have been on a quarter dry spell especially Barber quarters but i still love to see others find them.

Way to go:clapping:

my share of the Silver's on an outing...that's for sure. I'm hoping to increase that real soon with hunting both Saturday and Sunday to see what my totals will then be. Maybe then I can try for 20 Silver's in a weekend since I haven't done that too often. Glad you liked the Barber Quarter and I'm sure you will get one when you least expect it. Thanks for the reply and Good Luck and HH to you Bob.

Man James, when you guys come out of hibernation the silver flows!!! For just a "few" pieces of silver I'd say you did great!! I know, not the normal "James" weekend, but still a great day!! Congrats!!
