Hello all! Here's another batch of goodies that I was able to recover on Saturday. Hope you enjoy the pics and the story.
Tim, Dale and I once again headed out early Saturday Morning to add more goodies to our 2009 finds and to our monthly totals for our find of the month finds. We stopped off at a few different locations and really didn't start making any finds until around noon.
We stopped off and tried a rest area that looked old and Tim found 2 Wheats and Dale and I only Clad.
We then moved on down the road and tried a Park that once had housing in it from the looks of it and Tim got 2 Injuns and 2 Wheats from here. I was only able to dig up a Good For Token and a couple Wheats and Dale only found a Wheat or 2. After trying this, we decided to go check out a Fairgrounds.
The finds from the Fairgrounds were pretty good, but mostly in Tim's favor it seemed. The ground was either mineralized or had a ton of iron in it since some spots you could only get about 6" of Depth...that is if you were lucky. I tried my Joey Coil for awhile and found a few Wheats along with a Barber Quarter. I talked to Tim and he told me the stuff was there and that there was Barber here. He then proceeded to tell me that he had found a Barber Half, a Barber Dime, a couple Mercs, Rosie's, and a bunch of Wheats. I told him that I had only found a few Wheats and the Barber Quarter. We then started hunting again and I went to put the Pro Coil back on since Tim said a lot of the Coins were fairly Deep. I come back and Dale asked if I had found anything and I told him that I had just found a Barber Quarter and a few Wheats. I then told him of Tim's luck and it both turned out stomachs.
We then started hunting again and before we left, I had found 3 Mercs, 1 Rosie, and a bunch more Wheats. Tim had found a few more Wheats, a Silver Quarter, and a few other Silver Dimes. As for Dale, he was still in a slump and only found more Wheats.
We then headed over to a Park before it got late and here...Tim still walked into the spots where the finds were. I found a Rosie and a few Wheats, Dale only found Wheats, and Tim got a few Silver Dimes and a bunch more Wheats. It was Tim's time to shine I guess and he had luck on his side to swing his coil over top of the area's where the Silver were. Dale never found a Silver Coin and you could see just how much it was bothering him since he couldn't put his coil over a single Silver Coin during the day. As for me, I did find Silver but Tim was the lucky one to nab more than his share on this outing.
My finds were 6 Silver. They included a Barber Quarter dated 1906, 3 Mercury Dimes dated 1935-d,1936,1941-d, and 2 Silver Roosevelt Dimes dated 1946-d and 1964-d. For Wheats, I found 32 of them. They were dated 11,15,18-d,20,26,34-d,35,36,36-d,(2)39,40-d,41,41-d,41-s,42,44,(2)44-d,45-d,45-s,46,(3)46-d,47-d,49-d,53-d,53-s,54-d and (2)57-d. I also found 3 Tokens. An Aluminum Token that reads Good For ? In Trade on the front and reads J.M. Henry Waubay, S.D. on the back, a Freedom Token that has No Cash Value on the back and a Horse Shoe and Star Token that has an Eagle on the reverse and reads No Cash Value above and below the Eagle. Misc. Finds included a Merry Widows Can, a Kawasaki Key, a smashed Kids Ring, a Plastic Item with the letter B on it, an Aluminum Heart that has Dale on one side and Pam on the other, and a Decorative Item with Leaves and Flowers on it, made from either Brass or Bronze.
Well, that does it for this round and hope you enjoyed my finds from the latest hunt. Thanks for looking and Good Luck and HH to you all.
