Trash pit hunt.

Well-known member
Grabbed the Omega with the 5" coil on and headed off to the "trash pit" this morning for a three hour hunt. Besides being extremely trashy, the spot has been pounded since the mid 80's, but on occasion a goodie still comes to light. About two hours into the hunt with little to show besides a couple of clad coins, 1 wheat and a couple Mem cents I got a nice high tone with numbers bouncing around from 80-83 with a depth reading of 4" from among surrounding trash. Upon flipping the clod over I spotted a touch of silver. Which, turned out to be a small 925 silver ring. End up getting 1 more wheat cent and a junk pendant piece. The wheats are 1951 and 1937. Hope everyone has some luck this weekend. Was able to run 99 sen., 1 disc, d3 tones and a g b of 55. HH jim tn

Very nice finds! :clapping::clapping: Those trashy places make for one hard and slow hunt! It takes a master with the right gear and understanding of signals to work them right.
I bet that little diamond looking thing was a strange signal..didja learn any more info on that bird band you found?

The pendant was a high tone with low silver range vdi. Until I got it home and ran some water on it, I kept thinking maybe a good piece. Not to be, though. Nothing on the bird band yet. I am sending the numbers in and if it is like with duck bands, they send you back the info with where and when it was tagged. I have a feeling it might have some age as the band doesn't have a zip code #. But, that is just an assumption of mine. I really don't know how deep it was, although the depth meter was showing several inches, the band is so small it could have only been an inch or so. Find some goodies everyone. HH jim tn
