TTF

As a newbie let me see if I understand the correct process for programming for TTF.

Go to "Menu", select "Audio", select "Tone ID", select "No. of Tones", select "2". Arrow down to "Sounds", select "Ferrous". Select desired "User Modes" (p. 38 of manual). Select or create a "Discrimination Pattern" (p. 42). Save in "Discrimination My Pattern".

I've only used the Etrac in Conduct and Multiple Tone thus far, but want to be sure I know how to set up TTF if I get into an area with lots of iron. Thanks in advance for you're help and suggestion on what "User Mode" and Discrimination Pattern" settings to use.

Sounds about right to me. Use as little discrimination as possible. I blacked out the FE lines 1 and 2 from CO 1 to 37 to eliminate iron bleed over and Co lines 1 to 3 from FE 1 to 17 to discriminate out foil. Might miss a small gold 10K ring once in a lifetime but I hate digging foil.

When you save it, dont save as a "my pattern", that only saves the disc ranges (what you see on the screen). It wont save the TTF settings. You have to save it under the other menu option (I cant remember the name of it right now)

Do you have the Andy Sabich book yet? It does such a great job of explaining the E-Trac.

Goes4Ever has the best guide I've seen so far, I've had a lot of success using his EXACT settings, just google "goes4ever" and you'll find his site.

thanks for the props, I actually wrote an article on TTF for Ohio Detecting magazine, the article is on my personal site. It shows you with step by step pictures how to set it up and save all the settings.
