Tuesday At The Old Park

Well Doug and I are back on schedule for hunting the old park. Last year we hunted it quite often on Tuesdays and so we are back at it. We had just a short time to hunt about an hour and 45 minutes today. We started out at a different part this time and it was a rewarding experience. My first target turned out to be a deep screw cap...gosh they just seem to be wheaties dont they! The second target had that sweet smooth warble and at about 4'' out popped a 1944-D Merc. Doug quickly dug a wheatie and about 10 minutes later I dug a 1950-D wheatie at about 5" and it was right below a spot where two roots crossed, took some effort but worthwhile. Then about 20 minutes later I got a very jumpy signal that I slowly circled around just getting a hint of a good tone and with numbers that ranged from 10-42 to 17-43 but the tone sounded good so I dug it. It was a very green 1919 wheatie a bit on edge with a pull tab off to the side of the hole. Doug got two more wheaties in rapid succession just before he had to go. A great day and hunt with Doug and Malachi.

Nice finds, it's funny how those old parks never seem to be hunted out.
