Tune for FE or COND for housesites and coins?

Reggie

Do you prefer tuning for FE or tuning for Conductivity? When you are coin hunting/homesite hunting, do you run all metal or use some discrimination or iron mask? Thank you---a novice.

Ferrous is much easier but I use conduct. Discrimination and Iron mask are the same but discrimination can be spread around to block out crown caps, pull tabs, iron mask is used to block out iron bits. To much of either one will make the detector null to much.

Thanks, Arturo. I am hunting with all metal set up to avoid the nulling, but wonder if I need 2-4 points ironmask on the left side to combat the nails and junk which chirp false readings?

That is why I use one notch of IM.....-31......It saves my sanity in my iron infested ground

I just found that out. Ive hunted in all metal wide open for a while now and just started using one or two bars of iron mask and thats the ticket, seems you dont hear the minerals as much or bits of iron and I can focus more easily on the fainter deeper signals.
