I went to visit my mom today. Up nice and early for the hour drive. I took the Ol' Etrac along for the ride.
After my arrival and a couple hours visiting I decided to hit the yard for the first time.
The place was covered will fill dirt and tons of iron so I switched over to TTF after digging a few iffy signals only to find junk.
I was determined not to get skunked so I kept at it. Across the back fence is an old farm house. I decided to concentrate my efforts directly in front of it as it use to be part of the same land.
I got a good signal. "OK, I thought. It's about time!" I dug up a 1994 Lincoln penny. Drats! not the type of penny I was hoping for.
Time to regroup, over to the other side of the drive still across from the farm house. Bam! another solid hit. Turns out to be a 1975 copper penny. OK, at least it's better than the zinc penny.
Back to the other side of the bushes between the fence and the farm house. There's got to be some old money out here somewhere. Then it hits 12-44 12-45 solid. Now we're cooking. I pin point to the best of my ability and start to dig.
I dug an 8" plug about 4" down. I don't want to ruin this piece of silver. Put in my X1 probe and no signal. OK, it's too deep, let's keep digging. I took off another 4" and test again. Now a very faint 12-44 12-45 with the probe. It's can't be long now, I'll just keep digging.
I kept digging and testing and inch at a time and kept getting 12-44. I can't quit now, just another inch or two and it's all mine. Mine you hear me? All mine!!!!!
Now I'm up to my elbow in this hole, still getting a 12-44, 12-45. Is this a cache? Pocket spill? What????
I'm starting to think if I go much deeper I won't be able to reach into the hole any more. I'll be up to my shoulder soon.
Finally, pay dirt!!!! I can feel the edge with my finger tip. I lift, I pull, I grasp the edge and pull for I'll I'm worth and out it comes!
It's some kind of aluminum can lid or what not. @%!^%@^$@&$@^$@^!$!!*@&^!&R@(#*@*^!
I then pressed the power button, filled in the hole, and called it a day.
I didn't get anything to brag about, but it's was still funner than eating worms.
