Two More Neat Coins - Same Tree

Shayne

New member
Went back to the same OLD tree that I found the Richmond Bank Token at yesterday and found three unreadable wheat pennies, one buffalo nickle and TWO MORE NEAT COINS. One of the coins is a Charles Lindbergh Lucky Coin and the other is some sort of Presidential coin. Both were about 8 inches deep - not sure why I missed them yesterday. Also found a broken bottle with a black aluminum cap attached that read Whites Established 1869." I guess there must have been an old home site near the tree. There was also a lot of rusted iron pieces and what looked like rusted pieces of mason jar lids. The e-Trac did not like the ground, had to run the sensitivity between 11-14 or it would go crazy. Liking this coin/relic hunting!

Man, you have a nice tree there! 8 inches on coins running LOW sens, that's awesome! People hid money in mason jars back then, I would search that whole area. There's bound to be more goodies there. Nice recovery, and look forward to seeing more. HH

I didn think Whites had detectors back that long ago....

Congratulations on the finds Shayne. I know what you mean about "how did I miss those". I've had a lot of moments like that. Thanks for the pictures!

I just wish the ground here in VA wasn't so hard on the wheaties, indians and buffalos. The silver coins fair much better, but for some strange reason, they seem to be few and far between. Not sure how I can find 20-30 clad coins for every silver dime that shows its face! Will be switching from the stock DD coil to the 8" SEF coil later this week and hitting that area again - sloooooly.

Awesome tokens!!! You evidently found a kids stash.... There is got to be a lot more stuff laying there... Good Luck.

Congratulations on your Finds!

You are finding some really cool stuff by that tree. It must have been a gathering spot of some sorts, maybe a place to just to get out of the sun and shoot the breeze. Interesting finds. -- Randy
