Two silver Saturday

Hi Folks-

Had a successful afternoon hunt on Saturday. Temps here in Central Jersey in the mid fifties, soil fairly moist compared to the concrete-like summer conditions. What a relief for digging. As many of you have pointed out, you've searched the very same ground that others have before. How do we know, because the darn holes and can-slaw that these flakes leave behind... :ranting: Recovered a '45 Washington quarter within inches of a '52 Rosey (both at 37-38 tid). Both at depths of just 5-6 inches amid the unfilled holes. More testimony to the fact that the slow sweep of the Safari will continue to recover targets where others have gone before.
In addition, pulled several wheaties, a corroded '27 , '44 , a '51 and an unidentifiable penny-sized coin that is wider and weighs more. Two old shotgun shell cases, Winchester repeater and a Nitro Club. Thanks for looking.

NICE! You are correct about unfilled holes. They are in such a hurry to cherry-pick a place don't even think about tomorrow or anyone elses passion for this great hobby. But it is nice to go behind someone with a good machine and find the goodies. HH :minelab:

Yep, you had a good day. Keep postin them finds. I was gonna go out after work today, but had to get the lawn mowed. Maybe Wednesday.
I went out Saturday for a bit and got a really cool button and another war nickel.

Hey Kschael, Nice finds! That quarter looks pretty good for a '45. I like finding those shotgun shells as well. I posted a website for ID'ing shotgun brass below. Nitro Club brass is from late 1800's to 1911 before they merged with Remmington I believe.
Keep at it, I haven't been able to hit it hard for a week or so.
HH,
Bunker

Prep1957- Yeah, hoping it's a IH,(would be just my third) after it's done with the olive oil bath, but I believe it's too far corroded for a positive id....
Bunky- Much appreciated and thanks for the great shell id website. I can tell the nitro shell is old, as there hasn't been hunting allowed for many decades at the vicinity of the search site. Wanting to get some beach hunting in tomorrow, once this storm pulls out.

Sounds good, keep us posted on your finds. Hope it's an IH too!

An update on the fourth coin in the above picture (penny size, but wider) from same location remains super toasted to say the least...and has been bathing ever since. I can't positively i.d. it, but guess it may be a flying eagle cent ? These pics aren't much better. A medal with central american-type design was also recovered. Thanks for looking.

That would be your find of the year if is a flyer!!! Good luck with that. Keep us posted.
