Union Infantry Eagle Button

dgc

New member
Out with the Etrac and the 6x8 SEF coil in the pasture again today. Found a Union Infantry Eagle button amongst a lot of iron. It separated nicely from the adjacent iron in TTF mode. It was down about 5". As you can see its in pretty bad shape, but there was enough detail to make an ID. I can still see specs of the gold gilt on it. I found a picture of a nice one on the web.

Really nice button dgc, it's still really old, a part of our history, and you are helping save some of it. Nice job. Craig

Thanks Craig. Yes doesn't matter about the condition. Still fascinating to hold something in my hand last touched by a soldier in the Civil War.

Very cool history, thanks for the post.

I'd like to be able to unearth a neat relic like that. Cool old find. Thanks for both pictures.
