Unusual Civil War Button Find

While driving around we found a small area about 50 yards by 75 yards in size, that had just been cleared of underbrush. The area was near a public park and was full of trash and nails. I used the "Trashy Park" program, with normal recovery. Within five minutes, I got a strong 12-36 reading with a solid target reading on the screen at 3 inches. The ground had already been taken down about 3 inches by a bulldozer. I was very surprised to see the below pictured Confederate Script "I" button. I also got a three ring bullet out of the same spot.

Some of those buttons can be valuable a freind of mine told me a story about how he found a civil war button at a old camp site. He went on amazon and got a button book. He went to the page where the button was sopposed to be and instead of a picture there was a drawing. He contacted the author of the book and he paid him $1,000 for the button.

I have seen the "Script I " button listed for around $125 at some Civil War relic sales sites. I didn't know much about the button until I did some research. They were imported from Great Britain to the Confederate States. The "I" was for Infantry.
