I'm new to the E and after today only have about 6 frustrating hrs on it. Your program really helped me today from digging junk. I heard the machine nulling out quite a bit but it kept me from digging crap. I did waste some time while digging to China on some empty holes that I assume were deep cans. Dug only 1 pulltab and that was because the tones I heard were odd (?) so I decided to investigate (learn). I think the program will be good for me to use while I learn more about what the machine is telling me even tho I'll miss a few with all the nulling. I dug 12 coins with a few being in the silver range as far as dates and highlight was a 1918 wheatie over 7" deep that I somehow managed to find as it was surrounded by junk....something told me to dig it? I was impressed with the deeper wheatie as my old machine rarely would rarely sniff a smaller coin over 5"..... Pinpointing is a little tuff for me but I'll get it over time.....

Anyways....a little bit better today because of your program so thanks again!!!!!!

Glad it is working out for you. I think it would be good to run while you are learning especially if you are hunting an area such as an old park or place with a lot of pulltabs, can slaw, foil, etc. After you get the hang of it you can open up the screen and dig some of those iffy ones that hit a little lower towards the iron zone.....;o)

It is a good pattern and has really helped me learn the Etrac. I modified it by opening up a couple of areas for silver and gold rings and use it primarily in TTF. If I get a hit in the pattern I go to open quickmask like Bill mentions and get a sense of the amount of iron then use the sound and TID # to decide to dig. One park I hunt in is loaded with iron. It was settled in 1840, had civil war activity including razing the town and then rebuilt and lived in for another 90 years before being torn down and moved. The site was then made a park for 60 years now so there is bunch of iron at all levels and every kind of pull tab know to man! Bill's pattern and TTF has made it enjoyable to hunt.

I'll surely keep the TTF thing in mind in the future! Thanks..... I was lucky to even be able to download Bills pattern into the machine in the first place....lol I didn't run it today as I went to the local grade school (late 20's) to get in some more practice and it's not too bad for trash like the ballpark I've been practicing in so I used the default coin mode. Hate to waste my inexperienced time on my private stuff until I learn the machine so I'll practice on public ground. I'm not getting much done because my pinpointing sucks right now. Good thing I'm not into any silver yet as some would be scratched. I'm used to PPing with a Tesoro and 8" donut coil that PP's like a laser, this machine is a totally different beast for me. Took me 2.5hrs today to find only 13 coins, a peice of jewelry, chased a couple nails, decided to dig a perfect nickle signal to find a pulltab (always had nickels, etc. disced out on my GSII) but that's how ya learn? Basically just digging the high screamers mostly. Also did some more air testing this morn on a silver dime, clad dime, copper penny, before I went out and the FE #'s were all over the map so today while hunting I didn't even look at FE #'s.....just went after 30's- higher 40's CO #'s and screamers. Got approx. 10hrs. in now with the E. and hope I can get it figured within 90 more hrs.

One thing I'm sure of.....this thing is a sniffer!!!!!!! I truly believe that once the learning curve is somewhat behind a guy that the deeper silver orbs can't hide. I can't believe how sensitive this thing is and the slower you go the better it sniffs!!! I thought I hunted slow with my GSII and it's really hard for me to hunt as slow as this machine wants and needs? It'll take some getting used to. I think it's a good thing and will eventually really pay off on quality finds once a guy understands how to use the massive amount of info the machine is putting out?

Today I bought a 6" EQ2 and last week ordered a Lesche digger and the mini sampson. Diggers should help me on those 7-9" holes and the 6" should help on the PPing plus I have a ton of places where the smooth bottomed small coil will go amongst the trashy brushy spots. That spider webbed coil gets hung on anything. Between diggers, the coil, and some more time learning the machine, that should help my recovery time.

I'm frustrated as I'm used to being able to go out and produce but I can also be very patient only because I can already see and feel the potential capabilities this machine can produce in the right hands.....(hope it doesn't take too long to get there....sigh)...

Dont be frustrated.....;o) Just keep using the detector and it will all come togather. That little 6" coil is an awesome coil in the trash. I have one myself. It seperates good and actually goes pretty deep for its size.

One tip that might help with the pinpointing is to detune the target. If you pinpoint the target then get the coil about where you think it is then press the pinpoint button again this will make the target appear a lot smaller. With a little practice you can do this real quick and get the signal narrowed down. This is also helpful to give you an idea of the size of the target too.

How far away from the coil did you wave the coins in your air test. The FE numbers should not have been all over the place unless you had the coins real far from the coil?

Swept the coil over some ground in the yard and found a clean spot then laid out the 3 coins about 2' apart then swept over them at various heights from about 2" up to about 8". I guess the differences in heights is what gave me all the different FE #'s.....?????

I'll practice some PPing in the yard some more....it'll come.

I'm excited about that little coil also. Got a real trash ballpark to play in and one real brushy trashy private place that I haven't hardly even begun to search yet. Actually I've got quite a few places where the coil should be a real help.
