:usaflag: Snow on Miami Beach on New Years Day??

Our local beaches have quaint names and this one just happens to be Miami Beach!!

Last nights snowfall and this mornings high moon phase tide along with a calm gentle swell washing the shore made for an interesting composition this AM and I couldn't resist the heading!!

My "tide rock" is off Old Colony Beach and has been a landmark for hundreds of years.

Shown here it is at the maximum high winter moon tide with no wind to hold the water at bay.

Its top is barely visible in this shot and at extreme low tide it is almost completely exposed, a total fluctuation of 5 to 6'!!

This shot is in the other direction and the buoy is well off shore in this high tide where it was awash at the waters edge in another shot of moon phase low tide I posted recently!

The beach where I have lived for 40+ years is at the sea wall in the distant background.

My beach is called Hawk's Nest Beach and my house was one of the last built in this beach complex.

This completes my photo presentation of my "tide rock" and the adjacent beaches in all seasons.

I hope you have found it an interesting experience.

All the earlier shots were taken with an old Olympus digital camera and the more recent ones with my Christmas present--a Fuji 33WP digital camera.

All shots were hand held by a pair of 68 year old shaky hands and any blurring is not a fault of the cameras.

Regards and best wishes to you all on this cold New Years Day!!

What I didn't show is another sign almost exactly the same about 50' behind me when I took that picture!

It is for the small public beach close to the end of the road where I park.

Both signs say "NO ANIMALS", coolers, playing games etc.

Animals are walked there all summer and winter and no-one enforces the regs.

Most dog owners pick up after their dog, but some don't and no matter which, it is a public health problem for those inclined to lay down on the sand.

It's bad enough to be forced to put up with seagulls droppings and cigarette butts!!

Years ago the town had garbage barrels out on the beach and a lot of the trash actually got in them, but in an effort to cut costs the barrels were moved to the end of the street where I park.

Half of the debris from a days beach goers never gets to the barrels until the next morning when a contract crew sweeps the beach!

I comb the area for the stuff they miss and after the "season" I pick up everything I can find and dispose of it muttering a few choice words for the various A-hos that are too lazy or disrespectful to remove their own trash!!!

Thanks for allowing me to vent Friend and for your reply,

CJ.

Hi Mikie,

Ya sneaked this one in while I was writing a reply to Ron's comments. (I write slow!!)

Yeah, the swimming I havn't done in years, but I make up for it with quality water hunting time!!:detecting:

Have a great year Friends,

CJ

We have folks like that here in Texas too! They are just too lazy to pick up after themselves. They need to be taught some manners. Kelley (Texas)

Hi Fred and Happy New Year to You and Your Family Friend!!

One of my all time favorite movie scenes is from Lonesome Dove.

Two old Texas Rangers were sitting in a bar and one asked for another round for himself and his lifelong Ranger friend.

When the barkeep gave the old feller some lip, the Ranger banged the fellows head against the bar and broke his nose.

The Ranger turned to his partner and said, "One thing I cannot continence is disrespect!"

My sentiments exactly!!

Respectfully,

CJ
