V3i is King of Tiny Targets...

I think the major advantage of the V3i over its competitors is not depth, but in its ability to "sniff out" tiny objects in the foil range (and below). My buddies "other brand" detector can sure find the deep coins, but I am constantly digging more low VDI targets and tiny targets that go unnoticed by his detector.

Here is my latest: 8 more buttons from the field I have been hitting for a while, along with a gold Victorian era brooch. The brooch had a VDI of 9 and was about 5 inches deep.

That is a nice set of finds Neil and that brooch looks OLD.

Absolutely stunning broach..... You must have been going slow and low.

The v3i is a brass and gold magnet. It seems that I get hardly any falsing in the mid vdi range. You guys know, the signal that sounds like it could be deep silver but turns out to be a square nail. I get none of these when I have a good mid vdi from 5-65, this will be foil, pulltab, can slaw, brass, and last but not least Gold.

You are not kidding about finding tiny targets, I only found foil on all the foil targets i hit today but this V3i is picking up foil 1/4 the size of my pinky nail at 14+ inches down. My wife likes to come with me just to spend time with me and she couldn't believe the depth that it was hitting... and not a slight tone either, It was hitting hard and loud at 14+... you would have thought it was huge object down there. I guess i keep digging foil until finally hit a ring

You have the right attitude Tim and one of these days it will not be foil under the coil......:detecting:

Tim, you seem to be in some great soil conditions. Where are you located? How high is your RX? Which mode are you running? Don't worry the rings will come. You won't find a ring until your coil gets over one.

Rob,
I am in Ventura Ca. working some local parks and yes the soil is great for hunting. I will have to check the RX when i get back from my sons B-day party. I just purchased this V3i from a guy on eBay and it had a custom program called AAA and it works fantastic around here. I was using the coin&jewelry, deep silver, and prospecting and getting good results but I decided to try the AAA program since it was there. I sure like what someone did to that program, it doesn't make a sound on targets i don't want and the tones are good for the ones i do want and it is going DEEP. It had a program on there that said Bob's program but i kind of messed that one up when i first got the V, I was trying to change things around before i knew what I was doing (I still don't know what I am doing) I need to read more and experiment a lot more to even get a start at knowing this awesome MD. I going to be loving this thing for a long time...

Tim

Tim,

Tiny! No kidding!

Like you, I just received my V3i very recently (last night in fact). This morning I got up early to hunt a tot-lot and within 2 hours had 6 coins and a TINY sterling silver child's ring! Not bad for a guy who has NEVER metal detected before, and all the instruction I have received is on a couple V3i forums!

Thanks again to all the old salts sharing the knowledge!

Regards,

Walker

I am amazed at the small targets as well. I pulled a clad dime from 8 inches last Thursday. I also pulled this small piece of foil at around 8 inches in the same lot. Hit solid. Was hoping for gold...
