Thanks, I will copy and paste this info into Word and save it.

I do have one question, is that supertune running in disc or all metal? Really got some nice numbers there.

Your welcome. I you or anyone else need to compare quarter, nickel and penny depths let me know, I tested them all today. All were air tested outside with no interference. Supertune is running minimum disc, maximum sens, maximum threshold. Twice I have had to back off the sens due to the area I was in to stop a little chatter. Also, dead on GB seems to work best for me instead of + or -

I wouldn't ask you to do all that testing, but being you did I would love to see those numbers as well. No rush maybe the next time you get a turn on the laptop:lol:

I will, plus I want to get some depths on some relics also. Fixin to head to the woods, it finally quit raining.

Here ya go:wacko:

8x9 sens @ 10, disc @ minimum - Quarter = 8" Dime = 7" Nickel = 8" Penny = 8"
10" Elliptical - Quarter = 7" Dime = 6" Nickel = 8" Penny = &

8x9 sens @ 10, disc @ Tab - Quarter = 8" Dime = 7" Penny = 7"
10" Ellliptical - Quarter = 7 " Dime = 6" Penny = 7"

8x9 in All Metal - Quarter = 13" Dime = 11" Nickel = 13" Penny = 12"
10" Elliptical - Quarter = 11" Dime = 9" Nickel = 11" Penny = 11"

8x9 Supertuned - Quarter = 13" Dime = 12" Nickel = 13" Penny = 13"
10" Elliptical - Quarter = 12" Dime = 10" Nickel = 12" Penny = 12"

Thanks for sharing your test. It looks like I might need to get me a 10 inch elliptical coil.:)

tabman

That 10" elliptical coil is the bomb!! :O I am getting one Thursday for my tejon .I have used it on the vaq and tejon before. It found me my first colonial coin in a trash ridden school yard area that once was a plantation area.No coil would get it until i ran the elliptical over the area. That was after a few minelab detectors also. This is the coil for the vaq and tejon period. :-V :-!

Well the proof is in the testing, same here I may need to get one of those elliptical and for sure give that supertune a try.

Thanks for the results report.

PS Happy New Year All

I bet the ctx will not air test a quarter at 13 ".If i does i will be surprised. My old sovereign could not keep up with the Vaquero! :-V

I tested my V today with my 5,75 concentric to show my brother what it would do. It will get my 10k wedding band at a honest good signal at 10".

Sorry for the typo on the penny it is 7" instead of &. I am curious if there is a big difference in one V to another? I hear there are hot ones and some not as hot. I hope to get it out soon, weather has been terrible here.

Everyone seems to love that coil. I dont have the 5.75, but will probably get one later. Next on the list is the 10x12 if I can ever find one.

I am thinking if I had some test numbers that compare the 5x10 to the 5.75 concentric, that the 5x10 may replace the 5.75 and the 9x8. That was the case with my 1270, once I got the 5x10 I can't remember using my stock 8" or the little 5".

About four years ago i bought a Lobo ST.I took the 10x5 off and put it on the Vaquero then the Tejon. This coil has a great feel. You can maneuver this coil around anything. If you get in any high grass, woods, brush etc...you want this coil.It is way way better than a 5.75 conc in trashed areas.

You do not have a problem. There are so many types of pull tabs. The most stubborn ones will not disc out until you are a little past the tab mark.I like to locate silver coins in old areas setting my disc to this mark. This quickly allows me to get the silver without dealing with trash .Nice detector you have there.Good luck to you. :-D
Another great point from spirit!

I am new to the forum. I am look into getting a bigger coil for my V I like the test and I like the 10 Elliptical and I have 5.75 coil and love it. What about a bigger coil is better or not?tesoro jr

What will you hunt for? A larger coil is great for relics, large iron, etc. Not so great for coins. Since getting the 5.75 DD for my V, I rarely switch back to stock. I'll use the stock in larger, less trashy areas to cover a little more ground with fewer sweeps.

The 9x8 stock concentric is the deepest coil for all four hot detectors.A concentric coil will always be the deepest providing no minerialization. For the umax line the 12x10 concentric is the deepest. But i still like scanning for deep coins and relics with a 12x10DD because you have to remember, even though a concentric is deeper the detection field is only the size of a dollar coin at the end of the field.Think about that?that is a lot of overlapping. You could miss a lot.I love the field pattern of a DD.

That's why I'm thinking of getting a 10" elliptical coil...I know it's not the size of a 12x10 or anything, but since that foundation I'm detecting behind my dads house is so trashy and mineralized from burning down, I think it will get me more depth than the stock in that scenario. Can this be assumed or am I wrong?

That coil would be perfect for that. The small footprint signal slices into the ground and around trash way better than a concentric.I bet you could crank the sensitivity way in the red with this coil over that ground.

That's what I'm thinking too...I mean some of the ground is stable, but once you get close to the foundation you can tell the ground changes dramatically. I found an indian head penny that was just corroded by the soil and have had some other finds where the ground turned the metal red and bubbly. I'm hopin the 10" will help me pick out a few more good finds. I'm assuming it will also do well in parks to for finding rings and such?
