Do you have to download the updater tool separately first or does it do it as you go through the process of updating ?I have not noticed any real differences in TIDs between the various frequencies & modes. The Beach modes can be down 1-2 points on some targets from Field or Park. They are as consistent as my Anfibio in normalized mode if not more consistent. NM has not given much comment on any "normalization" of TIDs on The Legend.
If you can't find a teenager to help you update your machine, take it to a computer shop to get it done. That is what I did. The new Updater tool on the NM website is suppose to make the update process user friendly. V1.04 was very good, V1.08/V1.09 is really great. A noticeable step up in performance & usability.
It is. Just don't forget to re-download 1.09 (it comes with new updater) and do the factory reset once the update is complete. Was hoping it was basically a click this version and it will do the update for you
process.
What do you mean reload 1.09?It is. Just don't forget to re-download 1.09
"Re-download" means "go to website and download again". If I understood Dilek's announcement correctly, they've updated the updater (the part that actually uploads the firmware file into machine), as many users had problems figuring it out (UART updaters are not for the faint hearted). So if you've downloaded 1.09 when it was first released, delete it and re-download the updater/bin bundle from NM website, as it comes with the new updater. I don't know whether or not they fixed any usability or interface issues with that updater, as I don't feel like flashing 1.09 in a machine that's already running one. What do you mean reload 1.09?
I thought as you say, you click on update and it loads the installer first than 1.09 ?
I never put air in my tires. I'm just not ready yet. Learning to drive as is, maybe will update someday…I never downloaded 1.09 to begin with.
I upgraded from 105 to 107 and that was it.
Ah what the heck, cant be worse right…To each his own. You will be pleased if/when you do decide to update past V1.07. The Legend was impressive with V1.04!
Maybe one day i will hunt with vid and numbersI never put air in my tires. I'm just not ready yet. Learning to drive as is, maybe will update someday…
VDI and numbers are the same. Oddly enough, so are the tones (except for pitch). For example, in 60 tones, each tone represents a number (until you start messing with tone break), etc.Maybe one day i will hunt with vid and numbers
That’s why i was saying I might as well just do the update to 1.09There's no reason to learn 1.07 in hopes to someday update to 1.09 (or whatever version we'll have at the time), as it will needlessly double your learning curve.
I would think tones are more consistent and reliable than numbers but maybe the numbers are programmed to be relevant to the tonesQuite often the Audio WILL give more intelligence than the TID display because it is quicker, especially in 60 Tone, on a mixed/weak signal.
I would guess you don't have the minelab fbs or bbs... tone is every bit different than vdi numbers and maybe the legend also?VDI and numbers are the same. What I'm trying to tell you is that it's not possible to have VDI telling one thing, and the tone telling another… They're the same information, delivered via different mediums. Tones are faster and let you pick up on patterns that are hard (or impossible) to notice from the screen, that's why I usually go by ear. But make no mistake, if making some adjustment changes VDI of the same target, it absolutely will change its tone too (unless you're hunting in less than 60 tones and the change didn't breach a tone break).
There's no reason to learn 1.07 in hopes to someday update to 1.09 (or whatever version we'll have at the time), as it will needlessly double your learning curve. 1.09 is inevitable.
Analog machines have VDI numbers extrapolated from the tone circuit, so to speak. Digital machines have tones generated based on VDI numbers.I would guess you don't have the minelab fbs or bbs... tone is every bit different than vdi numbers and maybe the legend also?
