I have been thinking about taking some clips and making my posts in a video format...

I have a camera that shoots in .mov format... and I have Pinnacle Studio Ultimate 14...

Any suggestions, tips... do's.... don't's.... ???

Hey Paul. Glad to hear your thinking about this. I run a kodak Zi6. It came with ArcSoft and I upload to my computer using that. I believe it saves it as a .mov file. Anyway I got a free video converter here http://www.any-video-converter.com/products/for_video_free/

I convert it to window movie maker and piece it together there. I'm sure there are many other ways to do it but that is how I've gotten it to work. Then upload to youtube. I add any annotation corrections at the youtube sight. Things like mis-quoted dates on coins, E-Trac readings I didn't call out at the time, funny snippetts and the like.

I use a tripod. Might not be for everyone, because I can leave the camera set until I get a signal I'm going to dig. Then I pinpoint and have it marked. Unhook my headphones, try and get the camera and tripod in a good lighting position. In other words try and have everything ready to go (this is hard as your antsy to find out what you've located). This also decreases recovery time. The macro on the Zi6 is a good one and the sound is very adequate for what I try and do.

The reason is works for me (being able to leave the camera sitting) is there is no one else around. I'm not anywhere near a crowded park or in the city. The nearest person is probably a mile away. If I went to Omaha and tried to film, I'd be a little more leary.

The best advice I can give you, is even if you never post one up on the tube...film anyway. I can't begin to tell you how much fun it is to go back and re-live that moment when you've found something good!!!!

Looking forward to the videos. Thanks for all you posts and pictures!!!

I've been thinking about doing some video. Short clips...nothing long.

If you search Amazon for "CCTV Color Sport Sunglasses Camera w/Integrated DVR 640x480"...that's what I'm going to try. Awesome price at the moment ($99). Hands free, good res, hours of recording time, stereo, etc. I know of a few folks that spent $199 so I couldn't refuse.

Should be interesting.

Hey Paul, as for the technical side, sorry, I'm not that good at it. I too use the Kodak Zi6 and use the stock software it came with the upload directly to YouTube.

I keep the camera in my shirt pocket while hunting and pull it out to film when I need it. If I do a full dig clip, I keep a Gorillapod tripod by Joby in my front pocket or digging pouch. With the quick connector I can have it on my camera and off it in a matter of a few seconds.

Hopefully your camera has great macro features for clean, crisp close-ups of your finds,

Good luck with it and have fun!!
