It's been many years since I hunted a spot that has not been touched by a metal detector, but today, I hunted one of these places. My buddy got me permission to hunt a 100 year old lakefront home-cottage that sits on an acre and a half. The owners asked me to wait until they were done using the place. The home is surrounded by huge trees and sits 300 feet off the road. I fired up my Ex 11 about half way to the house and within ten feet, I found a 1919 wheat penny at 7 inches. I had the new pro coil on the detector and I was finding coins every three or four feet. Along the driveway in a 30 foot stretch, I found 22 wheat pennies and two mercury dimes. I ended up with 41 wheat pennies, 6 silver dimes, one silver quarter, and 3 buffalo nickles. I found more wheats and silver than I did clad. 90 coins total. I have to say that it's been a long time since I experienced hunting like this. I have only covered a fraction of the property. With a bit of sarcasim, I will have to wade through the wheat pennies before I start finding the Barbers that I know are here. I am now spoiled! I don't think I can go back to my parks. PS, the new pro coil is a keeper. It is light and I think it has a much narrower hot spot down the middle of the coil which makes it better in trash. I don't believe it is deeper, but with it's weight and separation abilities, it is great. I also just got an EXcelerator 4.5x7 and it is the best small coil I have ever used on a Explorer. For a small coil, it is deep. I found some older coins yesterday that were in extreme trash and they were all over 6 inches deep. Just when things are starting to pop, winter arrives. It's going to be a long winter! R.L.

It doesn't happen often, but when it does. To just dig perfect crystal clear hits one after another. You could probably run with a ton of discrimination and still do good.

I've been lucky enough to have a couple of sites like that. 10 silvers and a roll of wheats every day. Pretty hard to go back to pounded locations and swing all day for a couple of coins.

Nice spot! I found a hidden little street park, maybe 25 ft square, I swear it had never been detected. About a dozen silver coins (3-4 silver quarters incl a 1900 Barber) and 3-4 pieces of silver jewelry. I hunted with the CZ3D many times, went back with the Explorer (missed one merc dime)... need to head back over there and see if there's anything left the Pro coil can sniff out.

Nothing like hitting an area that hasn't been swung over b4. The anticipation & excitement is just waiting to burst out because you KNOW you will find something and when you find that first something it kicks it into overdrive.
