We will be in Sacramento California Christmas week. We are coming from snow and 20 degree weather.
We will be bringing our e tracs and hope to get some time to detect. Is there anyone from the area who can recommend some sites worth detecting?
I dont want anyone to divulge any secret and precious detecting spots just popular spots that can produce a surprise on occaision.
Thank you and happy and healthy holiday regards to everyone.

my sister lived in sacramento and she is here telling me there are a lot of parks along the american river and that maybe you'd like to take a trip up to angels camp which is a couple miles out of sacramento and was popular during the gold rush... good luck

p.s. does etrac have a prospecting mode?

Hope this helps..River bend park,it used to be called Goethe (pronounced gay-tee) along time ago, also Jedeiah smith recreation trail. Both are along the American river by Rancho Cordova.Google earth it ,its huge and not well known to to the MDers

Thank you for the information
my understanding is minelab developed because of prospecting
there is a gold nugget program on e trac and since im a newbie im still just using the simple programs
good luck and happy holidays

Thank you

ill certainly post any exciting results
regards and happy holidays

We got back from California on New Years Day
The weather was cold and rainy but not frigid and snowing
We were able to get a few hours of detecting in Sacramento and San Diego
We also met some wonderful MDs and ended up detecting in Sacramento together
The area was a park near the Sacramento Zoo and a kiddy amusement center and a golf course
It was a great area that we would never have found except for the kindness of MDs
We had been told that the area was highly detected but both of us together found 90 clad coins.
The soil was sandy beneath a few inches of dirt, most of the coins found were pennies and the zinc pennies were badly deterated
There was also a pressed penny from the Sacramento Zoo of a gorilla and several tokens, not very old but interesting,
a California trooper button that was very cool with historical detail and the expression, Eureka California.
When we were in San Diego we ventured out on the beach and found some jewelry, copper bracelet and silver plated ring.
There was also a $2 Euro and a 5 cent coin from Switzerland, also several sets of keys including a set of car keys
It was great to detect and continue the learning experience with the e trac even just for a few hours.
The ground is frozen in WNY and I have hopes and dreams of a short winter.
I also hope to learn to provide pictures of finds this Spring.
A big Thank You to all those who responded with suggestions and information and a special Thank You to those Sacranto MDs that invited us on their hunt.
Happy Healthy New Year to everyone.

Thanks for the update. Was wondering how it went. Congratulations on the finds and getting out with someone and 'tectin'!!!
