VX3 and M6 coils interchangeable?

Yes they are. If you have older could for the M6 they might not be V rated for the Vx3 and V3i but will work. If it's V rated it will have a V on the ear of the coil where your bolt attaches to the lower rod. I have had non V rated could which work just fine on my V3i.

Yes, no and maybe.............

The VX3 coil will work on the M6 and if the M6 coil serial # starts with a V, it will also work on the VX3. If the M6 coil # does not start with a V, it will still work fine on the 2.5 and 7.5 frequencies but you may get odd target ID's when using the 22.5 frequency because older M6 coils are not tuned (nulled) for the higher frequency. There are some exceptions as noted by Shortcut but generally speaking, a non V rated coil will not work properly (22.5) on a V series detector.
