Vx3 coils

Was wondering if the eclipse 1400DD will work on the Vx3? I thought i had read that it would work with all eclipse coils made after a certain date?

Thanks, Doug

It would probably work best in single frequency 2.5 or 7.5. It is not V rated for the 22.5 channel. If you already have one, go ahead and use it but I wouldn't spend any money to buy one.

I thought they make all the new coils as a v rated?

Nope, not the 1400.

Gottcha! THANKS

Well I have a MD buddy who finds a lot of deep items with his non-V rated 1400DD on his V3i running all three frequencies.
And my old pre V-rating Eclipse 6x9 works good on my V3i

Guys we have discussed non V rated coils. Some will work with the VX3 and V3i and some won't. Some will work but run high signal% and can overload on shallow and large targets. The 1400 is heavy and gets about the same depth as the 10DD. It wasn't popular enough to make a v rated version.

Explorer, that is the exception, not the rule. Non V rated coils work best or normal on the 2.5 and 7.5 dominate frequency targets. It is when you start using a non V rated coil, hunting the lower conductor targets where the 22.5 frequency is used that leads to misinformation, wrong target ID and poor depth. As Rob said, some perfectly good non V coils work fine, but most do not.

Well if i can open another can of worms....what would be the difference in the super 12 and the SEF white 12x10 coil, i know the SEF does have some good reviews on the v machines?

Read my review in the links post.

Rob...I did read the review on the SEF but didn't see a comparison with the super 12

They are different type coils one is a concentric coil and one is an (SEF) or type of DD coil. The 12" is for mild soil or the beach. The 10x12 is better for mineralized soil. I don't use them in the same places so I will let someone else compare them.
