Hi All,

Saw what appeared to be a new detector from Garrett for sale all across the Internet. Couldn't find it on the Garrett site and called Garrett directly and spoke with Sue Wilson there. She said it's not a Garrett detector and they've been having problems recently with third party Chinese-made knockoffs. The red flag was the poorly worded and broken English description in the ads for these which are on major discount merchandise sites which I won't provide here.

The funny thing is that it looks like it comes with the short AT-Pro armrest. Wonder if there will be an upgrade option in Beijing...

Please only buy from reputable dealers in these forums or elsewhere, and if the price sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Buyer Beware...

Garrett spends all the $$$ on R&D, only to have a bunch of cheap opportunists come along and utilize the basic Garrett design & colors to fool the public into thinking it's a Garrett. I guess it boils down to "buyer Beware"......if it's not built by Garrett, then it's probably a piece of junk. Good luck trying to have a product repaired built in China. :(

Beijing must have control over it too........I said to myself, self thats just an Ace 150 with 2 xtra batteries for the back light.........:nono:

[size=large]part of the blame goes to congress for their free trade deals. it would cost too much to sell in the u.s. if those crooks in wash. d.c. hadn't sold us out.
this practice is common even in the u.s. it's all part of capitalism. so as stated,"let the buyer beware".

thanks for the heads up.

but "will I even get it?. Most of these offshore companies will take your money and deliver nothing. Sadder yet is there is nothing you can do about it.

Thank you for letting us know!

Also buy Made in USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, or where ever you live. Avoid Chinese made merchadise, keep our money at home instead. Job creation and the economy are a top priority, so why doesn't President Barack Obama tell everyone to buy Made in USA, over and over, in his economic speeches?? Drive the buy Made in USA message into the public repeatedly WILL have an effect apon people to take action which WILL keep much more money at home and create many more jobs at home, it will work. Also tell people to spend a little more for stuff Made at Home(USA) to keep money and jobs at home. There is NO other reason and the ONLY reason we buy Chinese made stuff is because it is cheaper PERIOD!! Is President Obama avoiding saying BUY Made in USA in his speaches for some reason??

how about quit trading with china and keep jobs here!!!! next thing you know we will borrowing from india:rofl:

China damn-near owns us! Back in the 70's and 80's, we did alot of trading with Japan, and they had excellent quality merchandise. I don't know why China has replaced them, but all we get now is junk.
