Went back to the park I was hunting yesterday but had to leave after 2 hours. Well I did pick up a few more coins today. I bet there is as many still there? Good hunt but very tired. Time to soak in the tub with some Epsom salt in it. Thanks for looking. Happy Trails....Z

Holy Mother of Pearl! Zeek, just how fast do you recon from when you first detect a coin does it take for you to get it in the pouch? Time yourself for us a little, lets say on anything within screwdriver range. Even the surface stuff that is hidden from view counts, Thats a nice nickle count, just as many of them as Q's, and we know gold hides in nickle, and BIG gold hides in pennys!
Great day!

Thanks Mud. I have been using the screwdriver method. Was reading Quarterhorse's method with his 3/16 x 6" screwdriver. I got a 3/16x9". http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00941582000P?prdNo=23&blockNo=48&blockType=G48
I think he is closer on length. I can feel the coin with my 6" prob better but got that thing so bent up from trying to pop the coins. The 9" may work better with deeper that 2"? I am still trying to get it down. I am so surprised at how quickly I can recover a coin and just fold back the grass and I am up and gone to the next coin. If the coin is down 2" or less sometimes it only takes me seconds once I am down. I also use the 9" screwdriver to help me get up and down. I can put enough pressure on the screwdriver to lower myself to the ground on one knee and back up to standing again. I have dug coins at 3" and 4" but it takes longer right at this time. Popping coins with a screwdriver is an art. It does take lots of practice. I am pretty good up to 2". 3" or more I need a lot more practice. I don't think it will work with hard ground? Thanks for looking and reply. Happy Trails to you.....Z

Yeah, thats been my experience too, really fast, like less then 15 seconds average, with no hole or fooling around. I have the 6" version of what you mention, but think I may try the 9 when I break this one off! Lots of practice like you say, but really after a week a guy gets pretty good, dont even need the pinpointer, or the trowel anymore, with a few exceptions of course...looks like you have it mastered!

Oh how I know about women like you LL. You think I am a wealthy penny man. Well LL you are right and your are not getting your hands on my pennies. You just want to squander my pennies on that useless car lot. You will have to get up a lot earlier than that to put one over on me. I got you number. I will call you tonight......Z

Bart when you have been married almost 40 years, 70 years old and retired over a decade. The wife loves the time alone. She encourages me to get out of the house and go detecting. I am happy to go. Detecting is what I do. I have over 100 parks and schools around here. I just have to be home to eat on time. Other wise the she tells me she will throw it out to the pigs??? We don't have any pigs and we live in the city??? But I am home on time....
LL let it ring 3 times don't answer until the 37th time than answer, it will be me.....:cheekkiss:.....Z

Are you getting your annual flu shot? And also, have you gotten the pneumonia vaccine. You should if you haven't already. I used to get colds/flu 2-3 times a year. I just ignored getting the immunizations. Started getting them 4 yr's ago. Only had 1 flu in 4 yrs. That's because they formulated for the wrong strains of flu that year that I contracted it.

Never had one. Maybe in the service? Happy Trails....Z
