Weekend detecting anybody go?

geodehunter

New member
Did anybody make it out over the past weekend? The only thing between me and getting skunked was 3 memorial pennies.

Got out with the pick and shovel instead of the detectors. You should have joined us. We got into some big hollow ones up to 6 inches or more in diameter.

I wished I could have Daryl but I had an issue that needed my attention. Risk vs Reward and you guy's won. You found the sweet spot where the geode's were 6" and hollow. Those should be rewarding for both you and Star. My congrats to the two of you on a successful dig. Now the big question. When are you going to open them?

Nancy and I got out Saturday and hunted a yard, we each found a wheatie and some clad. I had to work yesterday and was suppose to today but just had to go hunting with the cold weather on the way. Will post finds later.

Congrats on the prime geodes Daryl....

It's probably going to be a couple weeks before we get to crack any. I need to figure out who has the rock clubs pipe cutter and then pick it up. Here are two geodes we found that were already broken open from freezing and thawing. The quartz geode was found by Star and is the largest of these two and has both halves. The chalcedony geode is a bit smaller, was found by me, and is only one half. The pictures aren't the greatest but will give you an idea of what we got into.

Those are some beauties Daryl.

That sounds like fun.......

OH MY GOSH! Those are down right gorgeous. I would display those beauties so I could see them daily. How lucky you were to find such big ones too. Congrats and I would say that's a great day of hunting. Daryl, I think Star outdid you.

I want to go! I want to go!

Sweet!!! Congrats on the geodes you guy's. Those are nice and that area should still produce some goodies like yours. If we have a winter with deep frost that will help out in the digging next spring.
