Weekend finds... Indian themed

Nick A

New member
Saturday got to a park and first hit was a 1901 Indian, a good start considering its the first time I've been out since early January. A bunch of wheats (oldest 1912 and one with the remains of two nails in it), a 1945-D war nickel and two old kiddie rings.

In the afternoon I had another window of time, so back to an old school (now private property) that I have permission to detect. Finds are few and the place is full of dog poop, but I picked up a cool brass skeleton key, 1964 dime, a 1945 wheat and a 1946 nickel.

Sunday I met up with Suzanne (Webbie) for a meeting and afterwards we hit an old school that was really cleaned out. She managed a 1935 wheatie and I got a 1926 buffalo nickel. We then hit a park for a bit, got a few clad, I picked up a wheat and another 1946 nickel. We parted ways and later I had some time to get out for another quickie and scored THREE INDIANS in one hole! 1876 (good date), 1884 and 1892.

Nice hunt Nick, a trifactor on injuns in one hole AWESOME!!!! :clapping:

Great finds, Nick. Just wondering what the Indians read. Here in S. CA we seldom find any, usually on the etrac they tend to read like zincs but a little higher.

Thanks for sharing the great finds.

They read all over for me, by generally in the 30s. Deep ones read CO 32-34, shallower ones can be CO 36-38. Both FE signals for the ones I dug this weekend were in the FE 01-02, which was kinda interesting. Usually I never pay any attention to the FE number though. In this case, it's really knowing your site. If you expect to find Indians, you pay a lot of attention to stuff in that range.

Hmmm, interesting, especially the FE numbers. We have so many zincs out here that it is difficult at times to dig 12/38's & 12/36's. However, I will have to keep an eye open for those low FE #'s.

Thanks for the response.

BTW, I'm from Cleveland originally and still have family there. Don't know where you are in Ohio but next time I'm back there & if you are close maybe we could hook up for a little hunting.

Great to see such good finds Nick, love that key very nice. Indian pocket spill makes it nice three for 1 hole.
