Went back to the trashy side of the court house last night fo 2 hours.

Boy was it trashy as a lot of debris from the burnt building is mixed in the soil and within 25' of building auto sensitivity dropped to 5 and below.Found the 3 ringer and the rowe marked lead in same hole at about 8" in lots of charcoal and trash.Think I will go back and try a little coil and see what I can seperate from the trash.Any info on bullet and pieces of lead woul be appreciated as I have not done any relic hunting,YET.

looks like a 69 caliber minnie ball.. if its about .70 inch in diameter thats what it is, if not then its a standard three ring 58.. definitely of CW era either way.
The lead piece looks like military issued lead as well.. they would use to make bullets etc.. although I am sure it was used by civilians as well.. I think I have a similar piece with the same name, but think its missing a letter or two.. if I can find mine will let you know as I dont remember the name off hand

OK, Ray, you will be pleased about your piece of lead. It's defintely Civil War period and was cut off a longer piece of lead sued for making bullets. The "Tower" is from a stamping on the lead that identifies it. The stamping was "St. Louis Shot Tower". Have seen one other and I dug a shorter piece. Both came from a camp in Springfield, MO. BTW, I'm going to be getting an E-Trac from Tom in Brighton next week. He's been raving about your finds with yours and got me hooked. Can't wait to get it. Hope the learning curve isn't TOO long.
