Whasit buckle

New member
Found a buckle (?) a few days ago and just don't know much about buckles, etc. Anyone have an idea? I'm guessing the design is supposed to be an elongated heart. Dug in rural area outside of Peoria, IL. Down several inches.

Thanks for the help,

Capt Ron

I have heard them called confederate bed roll buckles but have heard they were likely something for a saddle.
Not sure if they were true confederate buckles but a lot are sold as that.
