What a week of hunting :stars:

I first thought my SE was sick, then the next day I returned to the area I was at the day, when I saw an old house with the yard that I won't be scared to ask about to hunt. Well I knocked on the door, no answer, the house was for sale so I called the agent to see about getting permission to hunt it, my first mistake. She told me the house was going under contact has we talked, but she saw no problem with me hunting the front yard, and told me if anybody ask to tell them she gave me permission. So me and a friend of my got out and started hunting, after about 15 minutes the neighbor on the south side of the house came over to see what we were doing, and who gave us permission to hunt. He told me he was watching the house for the owner and would give her a call and make sure she was OK with it, I offered to just leave and he told me not to just keep hunting we were doing a good job not hurting anything an he would let us know if there would be a problem. He told me if she said no he would return in 5 minutes to tell us. So I went to the car got a drink of water and waited for him for about 10 to 15 minutes, he didn't return so we started hunting again, my second mistake. Well after about 30 minutes I heard a women's voice screaming at me, I looked around to see this woman coming from across the street from the north side of the house. She came right up to me with a loud voice the kind that gets attention from the whole neighborhood. She was going on about us digging up the yard and removing artifacts from it. She then wanted to know where I gotten permission to hunt it I went through the whole spill from the Realtor, to the man next door calling the owner. She then told me a family member had a contact on the house, And I was breaking the law removing artifacts from the house. I showed her what I found, and there was no artifacts in there just a few pieces of clad. She calls the agent and tells her we are digging the yard all up, and removing artifacts. I kept telling her I would leave, as she was getting louder and louder. My friend was stand there in a shock look on his face, I was really trying to be nice to this older woman. She then tells me the agent is heading over to see the damage we are doing. I told the women I was going to my car to put my stuff up. When I got over to the car with my truck opened has a shield I called the agent, I told her what all had happened from the first man to the old lady from across the street, she told me she wasn't coming over and this woman has been in a pain to her since she listed the house. I apologize to her if I caused her any problems and offered to wait if she wanted to come and she in no way had we hurt the yard or removed any from of a artifact, as this old lady kept saying. This old lady had ripped me up one side and down the other, I just knew she was going to call the law, and this is not the town you want to deal with the man. I mean to tell you guys this yard was in bad shape, I had to pick up clover that was a foot high and move the runners over cut a plug out get the target out the replace the plug, then lay the clover back over the plug in most of the yard. We didn't cover a 1/3 of the front yard. As I was driving off I could still hear this woman screaming out. I guess my I should have replaced the artifacts I took with me the 43 cents in clad and the broke glass I found laying on top on the ground and a couple pieces of junk metal that looked like flashing when the roof was replaced. I am going to go get the Realtor a gift card to a restaurant in town there. I know she deserves it for a deal like that, and me adding to it.

It is really sad that something like that has to happen...even when
permission was given to hunt the site. We have run into very simular
situations in the areas we hunt and usually the law is called in to
settle down the neighbors that believe they have the "right or obligation"
to watch everyone's property and will not make a call to verify that
permission was granted. Glad you found 43 cents BR76 but sorry you
had to endure the "slings and arrows" from an unusually loud neighbor.
Giving the realtor a gift card is a great gesture and just might open some
doors for some future hunts. Gold Nuggets :wiggle:

Next time talk to the 'owner' of the property, it will put your mind at ease and you will hunt better, rather than nervously looking over your shoulder.

The realtor was wrong to give you permission since it wasn't her property. The agent should have called the home owner and gotten permission from the horse's mouth. I can only imagine your frustration and embarrassment that this all caused just because the rightful owner of the property wasn't notified, but it wasn't your fault. Guess this is a lesson for all of us to make sure the owner gives the OK and not a real estate agent. HH.

I too have heard the faint sound of a woman almost screaming at me as the sound gently filtered through the threshold and beeps of targets with the head phones on ...:look:...... . Her husband had given me permission to hunt some of their property and had failed to relay the info to her ..... I have bad hearing and with headphones on I can't hardly hear a train coming..... but she was reaching maximum volume for a woman .:crylol:..... It was the classic pose ..... hands on hips, red face, bulging eyes, slightly bent forward, a truck load of drama, her hair just about to catch on fire, and ready to go for your throat ....:stretcher:.....I was glad she didn't have a knife or a gun .:yikes:...... she did finally calm down and leave.... I kept on detecting :detecting:....... but i felt sorry for her husband for about an hour or so .:nopity:..... Mama said detecting is not for wimps ......That's for sure .... hope we don't have to start a self help group for all the emotionally scared detectorists on the forum .....:surrender: .......:lmfao::rofl:

This old gal was one of those who has done this and gotten away before. I see her kind a lot in my life. I have learned a valuable lesson, to only talk to the owner. We all know it is a disrespect to a land owner to go on there property without permission, plus Texas carries some really stiff laws on it too. I think I will ask my ex wife to go with me in case I ever run into another woman like this again, so they can scream at each other instead of find out the facts first. It would have been like a match made from hell.

If you get permission from an agent or realtor i'm sure in the end you'll be in no trouble. People like that "lady" (yeah right...) will always be a possibility, the neighborhood busybody, self appointed ruler of the block or the park. If there are sidewalk strips you should see if it is public, get permission from the town and go detect her block.

They have you over a barrel (they think) and it feels good, so there, I am going to chew on your ass cause I see a situation where I can.:ranting:

The rabid old bat that was screaming at you should be giving you a few bucks being as you probably "floated her boat" and she probably hasn't got off like that since she was a teenager .

Some men like women to talk rough to them. She did'nt have handcuffs did she? Some friend you got. He maybe could have negotiated while you kept hunting. All it sounds like to me was you were trying to recover some lost valuables for the owner before the property was sold. Then offered to hunt her yard for free. Sorry about your problems really, if the property was in a realator's hands I would have done the same as you did. Better luck next time. :minelab:
