well what i have found is that the 10x12 sef will ONLY do one thing better than the pro coil and that is MAKE YOUR ARM SORE... and that is truly all it does that the pro coil wont do....{oh yea so i don't offend anyone here is the disclaimer} ...IN MY SOIL. seriously i haven't found anything that the pro coil could not see as well so for me the above statement is true and correct

I dont disagree with you at all Beep.... but you didnt say what the Pro coil does better that the SEF. Personally, i think the Pro maybe a tab bit better on smaller items. That might make a difference on a deep target since size is considered in TID. I guess i took the cheaper route... about $60. If you have never had a lighter coil and dealt with the standard coil... the SEF feels like a dream. Im not the biggest guy in the world and i can COWBOY UP for an 8 hour hunt:nopity: (sorry Beep just had to yank your chain)

sure i did dew...altho it was implied..(pro coil wont wear your arm out) and yes you are correct it does seem to be more sensitive on the smaller items for me as well...but if you call a tiny hunt of just 8 hrs cowboying up...you need to hit the gym dude...hahahahaha we usually hunt from sunrise till it gets dark and that is when its summer and the days are longer...more like 12hrs sometimes more.....and as for pullin my chain heck if nobody pulled anybodies chain it would be like hunting alone....you should hear the guys i hunt with...man if we never found anything it would still be a great day as our faces hurt from laughin at each other all day

i used both and the sef is a far better coil than the pro.
i can crank the sef up a lot hotter and will preform nice and stable..
if you wanna dig deep and find nothing in the hole go for a pro..
i use one of those elbow support wraps or a swingy thingy and things are good...

i guess that's your opinion...however consider this...if you are diggin a deep hole with the pro coil and no target can be found...3 things can be occurring...1 you need a pin pointer 2 your gain is way to high and falsing off the ground minerals or 3 your coil is bad...other than that the pro works as good or better as any coil on the market and ya don't need a swingythingy or elbow support to swing it ..... and i noticed you also said you USED both...well i STILL own BOTH and the pro gets my nod ...so for you to say the pro only picks up ghost signals just ain't so or you had or have a bad coil. :drinking:

they have ALL done exactly what moytaddog described.
Might want to add a #4 to your things that might be occurring when we dig these ghost holes:rolleyes:...and that would be 4) the pro coil does not handle iron as well as the SEF coil for me...AND at least 10 other people I've hunted with.:smoke:

Each and every person I've ever hunted with has switched from the pro coil to the 10 x 12 SEF coil after doing direct comparisons of both. They have seen for themselves that the 10 x 12 is a little deeper...separates a little better...hits a little harder...and handles iron a little better for them.

I don't publish all of my tests...but I can tell you from over 100 hours of nothing but direct side by side comparisons of these two coils over actual undug targets...that the SEF coil beat the pro coil hands down in everything EXCEPT weight when hunting for deep coins.

Also this wasn't just IN MY SOIL...it was in 3 different states. It's actually not my opinion...it's a fact.

That these SEF coils bring minelabs multi-frequency guys together. I see sovereign guys on the explorer forums and safari hunters on the etrac forum and vice versa. This is great! And these SEF coils is giving the same clean, crisp performance in the multi-frequency units. Look around the forums, this is a wonderful thing in my opinion. A coil that gives high performance on the etrac, explorers, safari and sovereign. Those who own a SEF are all saying its cleaner, more stable, better tones. Just as stated on the SEF box.

What coil is deeper than the 12x10 or 11" Pro? Check out the SEF 15x12. Many say it's the deepest coil they've ever used on coin/ring sized targets, though it will get half an inch less depth on a tiny little cut quarter penny than the 12x10. Base your decision on which kinds of targets you are going after.

OK. most of you for SEF, but what in the trash ? What is the shape SEF magnetic field? SEF size compare with minelab 11 is bigger, does it make different ?

I've got enough hours on both now to make a judgement. Keep in mind that I'm a cheapskate, so if I shelled out the bucks for the SEF, it was for a good reason.

Like i said... $60 bucks talks a lot to me. The Explorers arent the only people using the SEF... i just hunted with a DFX guy and yep he has the SEF and loves it over their 12" coil. Its hard to judge by its foot print. The Explorer doesnt air test very well... in fact its the only machine ive hunted with that does better in the ground, especially in auto sensitivity. Who posted that the Pro coil had a deeper footprint? Beep.... wait till you are 90 like me and weigh 100 lbs soak and wet.... 8 hours is a long time. I cant find people.... well except maybe Brian Schoefield that will do more than 8 hour hunts. Oh and most of our hunts is in brier patches and 2 foot high grass :poke: By the way you still got your website up and running? I read it once when you switched from whites.

The SEF coil is one of the best coil made !!!! I have 2 pro coils and made some good finds with it but spent more time digging ghost holes.anybody who says that they never dug a ghost hole must dig only text book signals!!!My pro coils are collecting dust. The sef coil is like getting a new detector you have to learn how to use it and what it is telling you to get the best use of it.:detecting:

well if you guys like those sef coils SWEET...i would trade my sef coil for for just about anything close in cost just to recoup my loss on that white elephant... and i will just keep diggin ghost silvers from those (pounded podunk parks) as you call em with my pro coil :beers:

Just because several of us use and like the SEF dont let that guide your decission. That pro coil is a great coil as well. Notice the debate.... that should tell you They are both top notch you just cant go wrong with either ... especially over the standard. From what i can tell if you get one and dont like it... there is someone who would swap even steven. You wont find the answer to your question as far as which is deeper nor which seperates better... so for the most part there is minor differences.

see what the pro coil missed.

hahahaha good one man but umm seems like the shoe is on the other foot tho cause we come down to YOUR area alot and hit those same parks that you call hunted out and umm we do rather well....all with the pro coil i might add ...also I'm curious as to why you guys pass up those 6..7.. and 8 inch silver signals that we find several times a day at those same parks....sure we get the 10 and deeper ones too but for the most part 6 to 8 and many many of them....sorta makes me wonder exactly what you consider hunted out man.....i know nobody gets them all not even us but dang to leave that many in the 6 to 8 range is darn strange but hey I'm not complaining....PLEASE keep takin that coil to those parks for us cause our silver count increases by leaps and bounds when we hunt your parks..

Go to the Sovereign forum and read a thread called something like "First Hunt With 15x12. She's A KEEPER!". It's a long read but I go over why this coil seems to seperate and pinpoint better than the 10" Tornado as well as being able to "unmask" shallow coins that other coils can't seem to hit right with the detection field. This coil is a keeper in every respect, falses less on iron, and is more stable allowing higher sensitivity levels than any coil I've ever used on any machine. There's also a thread a page or two down on the 12x10 (says it in subject header) in the Sovereign forum that is a good read, and while you are there check out the "Still Need Input On Largest/Deepest Coil For Coins" thread. There's even a few pictures of the 15x12 laid over the 10" and the WOT for size comparisons, a weight table I threw up with weighed weights of various FBS and BBS coils, and so on. I *LOVE* this coil, and it's not nearly as big or heavy as I had pictured it.
