What detector have you Sold that you have Sellers Remorse????

Wow.. I've had many, many great detectors. But what really has me at sellers remorse are....
1) Tesoro silver saber umax with a troy s-9 coil. That was the rats azz as far as beep and dig goes.
2) Minelab explorer II I hunted with that longer than any other I've owned. ( except for the nox 600 now )
3) Whites eagle II blue box that was reconfigured to an xlt handle set-up. Oh baby that was a great detector
4) Tesoro golden umax with the high tones. Not as great as the SS umax but close.

I'll keep it at 4 but could probably list to 8-9 detectors. Great question

I still have my 1st born Shadow X2 w/7 & 9" coiks. It collects a lot of dust nowadays. Its good to have if a newbie friend wants to go for a spin.
Recently got spoiled with TID's on everything, so the Shadow sits in the corner. She found me some great finds when I first started, so I'll probably never sell her.

That's great to hear Donna, and I'm a bit jealous too. When I got that troy s-9 coil I sent it and the detector back to tesoro and Rusty Henry dialed it in for perfect operation. It worked soo good that it didn't act up on a salt water beach until I hit the water itself.... I'm still kicking myself in the arse after all these yrs, and boy its sore when I sit down !!!

For me it was a Compass Gold Scanner Pro with the Keith Wills depth mod. I was able to find the deeper high conductors(copper and silver) than the normal scanner series. Even deeper than the more expensive Challenger X-100/200 units.

All of them! But in particular 2 of my three Coin Strikes. My last one bit the dust and I wish I had the two I sold back.
That was one on my wishlist for a long time. And than I was a few hrs to late at my dealer ... 😢 long time ago . . .

Never could take hands on a compass detector, to sad.

I had one of the first CZ3d's, actually number 66. I was directly communicating with Tom Dankowski about it's quirks and performance. It was hot and worked as advertised. One of the first spots I took the 3d was an old school were I found my oldest silver coin ever(1781 spanish silver) After finding this silver coin, I gridded and pounded the front yard of this school. I believe it was the first time I took the 3d here, I was not expecting anything good to come out of the ground. Within minutes, a V nickel from 8 inches or so. Second coin, shield nickel from similar depth. I ended up with another V nickel and an older mercury dime. This detector had one flaw. It's pinpoint mode could not pick up the signals I was getting in discriminate mode. The pinpoint worked only to about 8-9 inches. I knew when I had an old deep coin and when pinpoint did not work, I did the best I could swinging over it and dug an extra big plug.

I sold the detector and tried another a couple of years later, but it was not nearly as hot. I will never forget that detector.

I had a Coin Scanner that I sent back to the factory for the depth mod. As I remember, the new owner bought the company after the big fire. He was sort of a "dick", but after three or four months I got the detector back. It was one "sweet" machine!

Loved my old Shadow I pulled out a BB at 1 foot and it nailed the pinpoint

Sold 3 detectors but never really regretted the sale, always upgraded utilizing the latest technology to improve the experience and learn more about how a detector performs.

It was a Troy Shadow II that got me back into detecting in the mid 1990s after a 25 yr haitus. But my first detector was a White's, bought in the early 1970s when I sold a US $20.00 gold piece for $50.00 and bought the detector. Gave it to a Nephew in the 1980s and he said it broke and he threw it away...I could have died right there. Wish I still had it so I'd know the model. It is not easy to part with older (or newer) metal detectors; they become part of the family and are grieved when gone.

Sad,
I feel more like he never connected to the machine or detecting.
Since it was free he just tossed it.
Or wrapped it around a tree.
I've actually seen that.

I notice many buying a detector as they seen some nice finds found on the forums and figure it is so easy to find the good stuff but when they see you have dig a lot of trash if you want the good stuff. Many try it for a hour or so and dont find much and put the detector in the closet and think there is no reason to swing a detector, Now I used to get many calling me that seen some of my stuff I have found and want to get into the hobby as they figure they can also do this. Now I may have talk many out of this hobby as I say compared to fishing which most love. I then say if you we , would you be ready to the next day?? and all day fishing and not had no action, then get up next morning early to start again and spend the day getting nothing good?? Just like fishing you have to have patience and do some research for some to enjoyment.
I get a guy calling me that says he want a detector to find gold and not dig no trash, if there was a detector like this I could sell thousands of them as there is not any around, there really no detector like that, he want to detect a old fairgrounds.
I have many call me when I sold detectors and wondered if they could make enough in a month or so to pay for it, tell them if is possible but not probable.
Many included myself want the best detector only to find it has too many adjustments and hard to understand so they cant find anything but trash as they dont have it set right and when they do and start learning it they change the settings When I was selling to someone new to the hobby I tried to recommend the Compadre to start with and if they like the hobby I would trade it in for what they bought it for so no money lost. Now if you bought the 1000 detector and didnt like it you would loose a good 2 to 3 hundred from what you bought it for.
I remember one that got a new Explorer and ask if I could send it in as he claimed it couldn't find anything and thought it was broke. I fired it up and it sounded good, but the screen was blacked out as he was rejecting everything. That's why I recommend a easy to use detector for new detectorist to keep them interested in this fun hobby.

I sold a White's DFX years ago to "upgrade" and for years I wish I hadn't.
If only shipping weren't so extremely expensive from this side of the pond.
