WHAT DO YOU DO ABOUT GETTING SCAMED

One is the rechargeable and one is for alkaline batteries, so I would try the other pack to be sure it isnt a bad battery pack as it can happen.
Also I would post the area you are in as maybe someone in your area that has a Explorer or E-Trac can check this out for you to see if it is a simple fix you can do yourself.

To Rick(ND) I did try both batteries an the same thing happens with both. ( either bad conection or bad on / off switch. ?????????? i don't know, ill talk with MINE LAB tomorrow. Thanks for your concern.

when you get it working however this happens always make sure you carry coil downwards at all time then any dirt or damp wont travel up the inner coil to your computer even when laying down as you dig your goodies watch the angle i have mine on a bungee chord so my computer is always off the floor out of the dirt and above the coil i do hope you have some happy hunting and look forward to you posting pics of your first finds keep focused now you have learnt what has been a very hard lesson i will catch up with you on the etrac forum

just making a cup of tea and thinking over some of your words in your post numbers going all over the place sounds like it is on manual sensitivity make sure you are in automatic sensitivity you see the four directional buttons bottom left ok well the left and right one will put you in and out of the two different sensitivities auto will be when there is a circle at the top going round thats the one you want at the moment the top and bottom buttons will lower and higher the levels of sensitivity so easy to alter in the field situation this should defo stabalize your etrac

This is Kenova's ad:
I am selling my E-Trac to fund a new project. I bought the E-Trac new on 8/24/2010, I will send the original receipt. It still has the original screen cover on it. I havent used it much at all.
It comes with the Sunray (black) X-1 Probe factory mounted on its own upper arm, extra upper arm, original box, manuals, blank warranty card, 5 pocket tool pouch, padded carry bag with access pocket, Lesche digging tool, Minelab Hat, Koss Headphones, Alkaline battery pack, Detector stand, Protecta Coil Cover, USB 2.0 cable, 1600 mAh 9.6V Battery Pack, E-trac Xchange Software, Andy Sabisch Etrac Handbook, Robert F. Marx Buried Treasures You Can Find.

It looks like woody got a pretty good deal if he paid 1200.00 and if there wasnt a battery connection problem. I also see that woody left a message as a reply to the ad when he discovered a problem with the detector. It may be entirely possible that Kenova has never seen it and also possible that Kenova would have helped him with the warranty issue. I dont know Kenova, but hopefully there is another side to this story.

I'm the one who was dealing with Scott Orr (Kenova) for Woody because I'm friends with Woody and was trying to get him a nice detector plus I just purchased an etrac from a forum member with good results.I told him don't worry people on this forum are honest you won't get ripped off here! Well I was dead wrong....

So here are the FACTS! The detector has more than just a connection problem. Me,Woody,a few forum members and the people that run the forum have sent this guy personal messages and messages to his email with absolutely NO reply! The least this crook could have done is replied! I hope he feels real good about ripping off a disabled person! Woody is missing an arm and I give him a lot of credit for doing what he does....He wasn't looking for hand outs and he sure and the hell wasn't looking to get scammed!

I like to give a fellow a benefit of the doubt, but it looks like you guys have done everything possible to allow Scott to make this right. I am very disappointed and sorry that your friend and a fellow member was obviously taken advantage of by another member.

Maybe you can post Scott Orr's address so if someone lives nearby can check in on him to see if he is OK or in the hospital or what?

He gave us a PO Box for an address yea I know a big red flag BUT his real address was on the receipt. So we are sending Seal Team 6 down to pay him a visit LOL!
Woody has the receipt so I'll have him post his address.

Hey Shoie, can we not get into the extremely dangerous habit of posting private and personal information on the internet? Besides, If this scam (your words) truly happened. it is YOU who bears the responsiblity for your friend's unwise spending...It was YOU who advised him to purchase this particular machine...He is obviously depending upon YOU to guide him through these treacherous straits. Please, be careful...

how is it a problem posting this crooks addresss? if it will help other people from being scammed i think the public should know! just saying... CladKing

Wait a minute here Scott your calling me a liar?? you better go back and read the facts buddy! This guy is a crook and ripped me off so I'll post his info anywhere I want!
You're the one that needs to be careful! Scott Orr ripped me off for $1,2500 by use of this forum and you ask that I not post his info here??? LOL OK!!!

Hey and don't you worry Woody he's already taken care of!

Thanks Clad King you are 100% right!
Scott Orr was communicating with me right up until I said there is a problem with the machine then he disappeared.
I thought maybe something happened to him because I offered that we still want the machine and would he be willing to send it in for repairs but no reply.
Seems if something happened to him one of his family members would have contacted me and it seems strange he has a physical address but instead had me send the money order to a PO Box???
And if this SCAM didn't truly happen you'd think he'd come here and state his case!

I just can't believe that clown that posted above blames me and then expects me to just sit tight here and chalk it up as a $1,2500.00 lose???

Thanks for your concern, I have spoken to the postal inspector and he's doing all he can to help out.
