What do you think it is, silver or clad?

Found this at a park where they had torn out some concrete parking lot. It's the most
gnarly looking quarter I've ever dug. Almost no detail remaining. Can't even tell by
looking at the edge if its silver. Since it's toasted think I'll run the dremel along a small
portion of the edge to try and determine what it is.

Got that sucker out again and looked with a magnifying glass. Holding the quarter with just the
right angle the date is 1943

Are you in the winter zone.? Some roads and parking lots treated with salt, ice melt etc will cause odd corrosive effects and colors to silver coins especially if the coin happened to live in a drainage area under the street or parking lot.

Vending operators also painted some of their coins to trace their movements, perhaps some of that is green paint? I've seen red and blue ones so far. That does look like some sort of corrosion though. How odd....

1943? maybe that coin was in a fire or something?
