What does 1/20- 12Kt mean?

Mosley

New member
I have a locket that has 1/20-12KT stamped on the inside. Any ideas as to what that means? Thanks in advance.

That means that the piece is "Gold filled" It has at least 5% 12k gold content. I believe some gold buyers will still purchase gold filled items, but the scrap value is dramatically less.

To clarify, "gold filled" means a heavy gold plate. The numbers mean that 1/20th of the total weight (or 5% as mentioned) is 12Kt gold.

Yes, I do some trading in G&S. Gold filled is usually calculated as sterling and paid as such. Many refiners do take GF. Send me all you have! HH
