What I would like to see ML do with new technology...

I don't know about anyone else but looking at the screen on the ET over and over, (and one any machine for that matter), makes my neck hurt. You younger guys may not be dealing with this yet but one day...

So, I was thinking yesterday that it would be great if someone, ML or aftermarket, made some sort of "heads-up display" to use with the ET. Maybe some kind of clip-ons, or goggles, or glasses, with the screen info displayed on the lenses. Of course you'd have to be able to see through them too, maybe combo headphones and a display.. even if it's a monocle modeled after the jewelers loop to clip on glasses or sunglasses... and ET does have that USB port. Maybe it will evolve...

I'm sure it wasn't many years ago that today's detectors were "science fiction"... so why not?

I would go for it.

The next generation of E-Track

Now that the USB port has been added, just think how cool it would be if we had some support software that would allow us to tinker with some of the settings that have been pre set on this model, just think if you had that option you could tinker to your hearts content and when you get just how you want, you could update the machine to work JUST LIKE YOUR BELOVED EXPLORER and then we wouldn't have to keep reading the same old boring mush over and over again.

So all them that have bought the E-Track and have now realised that its different from the Explorer do something positive instead of all the negative posting, try getting out and detecting for a couple of months, and then if you still don't like the E-Track, you should sell it and accept that this Minelab model was not the one for you.

OK rant over and metal shutters have been fitted to all the windows and doors.

If Bose would come out with a set of e-phones that just pop in the ear but are like big head phones....as soon as I put mine on...I am like a walking rain forest in the heat of the summer.....drip drip drip....maybe they can attach to your HUD glasses....I would buy them in a flash!

Funny you shold say that, I have very same problem with most detector headphones make my ears get sore and I end up wearing them only half on. I also like the sound of the new wirless technology as fitted as standard on the XP Goldmaxx.

So anyone else had this problem and found a solution to it.

I use these during hot days. You can get them at Radio Shack for $20. The nice thing about this type is that the output of the sound is inside your ear. You can wear these for hours and hours.

I used to buy 10.00 headphones from Radio Shack, the ones that just set on your ear. I'd buy three pair at a time for use in the heat of summer. They also have a 3' extension with a volume control. They seem to work well enough with a Tejon or a T2/F75 but I don't like them as much with the Minelab detectors. If they break just put on a new pair.

How come you don't like them with the ML's?

Frankly, I don't remember. I stopped using them when I got my SE, I really don't remember why. I think I just liked tone better through the SR phones.
I do know that you cannot use those Koss phones that they ship with the SE and ET with a Tejon... they will make you deaf, they are way loud and ave no control.

These, http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2259605&cp=&sr=1&kw=headphone+volume+control&origkw=headphone+%26amp%3Bamp%3Bquot%3Bvolume+control%26amp%3Bamp%3Bquot%3B&pg=3&parentPage=search, look like the ones I used to use and like. They had an inline volume control with a clip on the control. The clip helps you to not snatch them off your head. I'd clip it either on a shirt pocket or the neck of a tee shirt. I can't find the extenstion I bought online, it also has a clip on the control but makes the cable too long. I usually tie a loop in it to shorten it. I'll order a pair of these and see how I like them.

Those ones there in that link you provided looked pretty comfy and the price is nice.

Although I have had a broken neck from a motorcycle crash many years ago I don't seem to have much problem with getting a sore neck from trying to see the display. But I had thoughts of trying to wire in my Sony PSP as a display and somehow position it in front of me. But with the USB PORT FINALLY ADDED WHO KNOWS WHAT THE POSSIBILITIES ARE!

Gee, like maybe being able to down- and upload settings. :(

Be nice if someone hacked it--the good kind--enough to be useful but I'm not expecting ML to explore the possibilities much. Uploadable updates--at the very least--for instance! I presume they have an EPROM or some such in there but I could be wrong. (Though it would be smart for them to do so.)

I'll be happy if I'm wrong.

I will have togive them a try, thanks
