What influenced you to purchase an E-Trac?

All the beautiful old coins you see posted on this site? Certainly has gotten my attention all these years.
My take... I have hunted a lot of older spots around me and found some silver with my machines. I know of no one around me that metal detects, so Im fairly by myself as far as anyone to talk with and compare notes. They are some around, I havent seen them, but have been told of them. My home town goes back into the late 1700s when it was just a fort here, but all that area is concreted and paved over now. No real population here until the late 1800,early 1900s. So Ive hunted with my other machines for quite a few years now. My dad hunted heavily back in the 80s and 90s, found a lot of silver. So, I asked myself, are there any more coins at these sites I have permission to hunt. I just plain dont know, I still find wheaties . Where is the silver?? So, it cost me a great deal, money wise, and its gonna cost me a great deal time wise ( Im sure at least a year or more from what I read) to really become proficient with the E-Trac.
So, this is probably my last effort here for my detecting career. I was looking for a machine that works well in the modern trash as well as old trash (iron). Also we have a river here, that has flooded areas many times over the years, until they put up a levee system and dam to keep the river back during these times of flood, so, a deep seeking machine is needed as well because of the deposit of silt/dirt from those earlier floods.
Im thinking, with the Old Spainish influence here in Louisiana and French, I just have a gut feeling there has to be something still out there to be found.
So maybe it was time to try a new machine, a new brand of machine (to me), not that I dislike my others. Maybe to give me a different insight and think of things differently.
This is why I ordered an E-Trac.
Thanks,
John
Oh, keep it low and slow

If you are using old technology on your older detector then for sure you will be surprised. BUT...many say they took a while to get used to the different sounds and the way the machine works. I like technology so I did not expect the E to be or work some certian way and just took a few times out to get it into a set up that I liked. Lots of old posts about this so read up before your E come.
I wouild say your in for a great time as the E really does surprise lots of folks with the clarity and depth in finding silver and stuff left by your older machine. Just stick to it and have fun with it. It will get better and better

Good Luck,

E-Trac as far as I am concerned is the ULTIMATE coin and relic machine. You cant go wrong if you put in the effort and get to know your machine.

i tried to read all i could about it. it seemed like most people really liked it and i wanted to upgrade. after one season, im very happy i did. im better with it than with my old detector. youre right that it does take about a season to get REALLY good with it. for me, coming from using a whites 6000 di pro....it is completely and utterly different to use a "sound" machine....but from day 1, i would never go back....and now...after using it maybe 75 times this season... im finding things that i know noone else is finding, including me, with my old detector.

I bought the etrac because when I looked thru forums, I noticed the guys making consistent silver finds were swinging minelabs, no other brand even came close... Look at any detecting forum, and look at the posts of guys digging 4, 5, or more silver per hunt, then look at what they are using.....98% of the time it is a minelab, mostly etracs.....the proof is in the pudding

Never found much in all the years I hunted then got an Explorer and bam I got a deep barber quarter but I just couldn't come to grips with it as i still didn't know how to set it as i too have no one yet that I've seen around detecting but hear there is others. I had a few other machines too and used them all on and off then one day I read an article in one of the treasure magazines by Andy Sabisch and also ordered his book and then I got the Etrac. BOY I should have gotten it the year before when it first came out. They greatly mproved the ballance and the handle and the new Pro coil. The screen had all info on it now and was bigger easier to see and the menue was easy to navigate now and made sense. BUT the biggest was I changed 2 things like suggested in the book Ground Difficult for land hunting and Trash High for the see through capability enhancement and went out hunting and boy the coins started showing up. Laid out a few coins and swept over them and got to know the sound and numbers then went at it.
I can't tell you what a pleasure it is to consistently find good items now just about every time I go out. This machine is versatile and functions can be setup in several different ways too depending on what and where your going to be hunting.
I liked it soo much i traded in my other detectors at the time for another Etrac. Now I keep a small coil on it and the larger coil on the first one.

You won't regret getting one!! You'll wonder why you didn't get one sooner!!

No doubt about it. The E-Trac is one awesome machine! Loved mine since 08!!! No other machine I sell pulls more silver!

What influenced me? Visiting and talking with Joe DeMarco at his shop, when a friend bought his E-Trac. I was convinced it was an excellent unit after working(I did the digging) with my buddy for an afternoon in a trash filled park. I wanted the best detector available, so if I fail to find something, it's my fault-not that of the machine. It has proven(to me, at least) to be worth every penny spent. The detector is so far beyond my skill set, it will be way more than adequate for many years to come. Yet, despite it's capabilities, it's easy to learn and run right out of the box. The only complaint I have is the screen is sometimes hard to see. A color display would be easier to see.

I started watching YouTube vids - the guys that were finding deep silver consistently were running Minelabs - then I joined the local MD'ing club and most of the guys that were finding the good stuff were running Minelabs. The price hurdle was a big one - but I've NEVER regretted spending the money on the E-Trac (in fact, several of the guys in the club now own them as well - and next year I know there will be more).

The majority of members at my club use whites and they do just fine with their machines. I went the Etrac route because of all the Youtube videos and posts on here. Couldn't be happier. I work across the street from the town square and I see people over there ALL the time detecting. The first day I had my Etrac and actually the first 30 minutes I already had a silver half in my pouch along with wheat's, buffaloes, and mercs they missed. I've been back to that square many times since then and I still find silver every time I stop. The machine speaks for itself but in reality it all comes down to the person swinging it and actually having your coil over some old coins.

I cant tell you how many times I have heard this same story about the Etrac. Its like ground hog day! Best turn on and go sliver machine on the market.

I haven't used any of the stock programs yet. I downloaded Andy's coin pattern and Goes4ever's TTF pattern have only been using those so far. I heard the stock program is pretty good too but it has a lot of discrimination and I'm not a big fan of discriminating out much of the screen.

One more thing that sold me on the Etrac is how exiting the forum is on an etrac page compared to most other detector specific forums pages. Etrac users always talk about going over a field or park that they regularly detect and still find the goods. Not just a penny here and a trinket there, but silver, gold, tokens, and more on the same hunt. Other detector specific forums have lots of comments where the last few hunts didnt produce anything at all. I go over a few spots that I have hit at least 30 times in the past. Im working on the "hunted out" theory. One spot is only about 30 feet by 40 feet, and is next to a business I go to regularly. I spent about 2 days straight when I found the spot 3 years ago. I have been over it with at least 12 different detectors and before I got the etrac I was getting fewer and fewer finds each time. I am confident I have the top 6 or so inches cleaned out but I find coins everytime I go. It used to be a grassy little area infront of a bank. The bank has been gone for 30 plus years but the new owners tell me they see others detect there once in a while. I have probably pulled 200 coins from there if not more. When I need a detecting fix and want to find something in a short time that spot always produces. With every rainfall and dry spel the site is new again. Its not like it used to be when I first detected it but i think it is many hunts from being "hunted out", a term that always makes me laugh. So many posts are titled, "hunted out park give ups silver" or something like that. The title should read, "cherry picked park produces silver for attentive etrac user" Idigid

i agree with this,as i am finding the same thing too!
it appears that on other forums, finds are somewhat "meager"
compared to the e-trac forum...just sayin'

I was influenced by a friend who not only doesn't have one, but never used one! He told me how great his fellow club members were doing with them. I had used (and given up on) both the Explorer XS and the SE Pro. My buddy assured me that his friends had indicated that the Etrac was not a repackaged Explorer, but instead a whole other animal. I got one and have had a blast with it. I used to go out hoping to find silver or a wheatie. Now I go out expecting to find them. Only once or twice have I been disappointed and I'm convinced it was the sites and not the machine.

Interesting other guys mentioned the forum as that is a fun part of having a detector - talking about it and such.

The big thing was the easy to get depth. I really wanted to compare two of the top detectors out there together. I've read about the Minelabs FBS for years and stayed away due to the weight and them being the "easy brand to dislike". Simply because the finds seemed a bit out of the ordinary and everyone was finding stuff with them.

I'll shortly post my finds on my first day of hunting. I'm a believer.

Simple...Nebtrac, and his pile of silver that was found with the E-Trac!

I debated for almost a year before getting mine. I watch hundreds of YouTube vids and read more posts than I care to count. Out of the thousands of different references I only saw maybe ten total that had something negative to say.. This year is my best silver year ever. As of now I am at 148 including a whole roll of rosey's I found at the base of a tree. I have went to countless places that were "hunted" out and I consistently find the left behind silver... I can't say enough about my E-Trac.... Goodluck if this is a decision based post.. I can honestly say you won't be disappointed in your E-trac purchase....
