What is your favorite place to hunt

I was wondering where do yall like to detect. I like to hunt old homesites and old one room schools. I just got permission to hunt a old one room school that was bulldozed down a few weeks ago. Went today for about 30 minutes and found a 1910 wheat and a 1970 something memorial then it started pouring down rain . I can not wait to get back to that place. I am not for sure when the school was built I do know in 1980 it was a coon hunting club.

Old properties, I thought about asking the same question the other day, glad you asked it! I like history, so anything old will work for me!

Well, I used to hunt any place that had treasure, especially a Civil War site and our Club Hunts......just wish I was still able to go again! God Bless! Betty

I like Civil War areas to find CW relics. 1800's yards rate at the top too.

I like old churches also. Found both of my indians at old churches.

From the land of the Bluenose....that me son is a wide open question.

If in the summer and nice.....fresh water beaches.....off them
In the spring old sites before the vegatation grows
In winter.............Dominican rep...water and land
Fall is for fields before the hunters come out and the fields plowed.

If I'm with an old bouy or a newbie sports fields that are easy going.

I would have said old house's lawns. But now they are all gone & there never were old school houses or farms around . So now I have adapted to tot lots and am being very successful at it. Out west things just are not all that much available and there's lots of guys hunting. Steve in so az

I have hunted city and county parks when living in a big city (Lansing, MI) found lots of rings and clad and some silver.

Have hunted old vacant sites and come up with some nice tokens and other cool finds.

Hunted high school property and didn't find much - some pennies...then again I was using ancient technology...BFO.

Hunted a sidewalk construction project and found my first Indian Head penny.

Hunted in ghost towns finding square nails, a tag for delivering a product from a farm to a processing plant down state. (Guessing the train ran through there).

Hunted swimming holes and found a wedding band and coins. Beaches turned up some wheat pennies and buffalo nickels. Water finds brought in high school class ring from the 30's time frame and more wheats.

One site I have hunted the most has been not so much the old school - which did turn up some silver - but a vacant lot near the building was the school's ballfield for many many years, and maybe even a 'community' ball field as well. This has turned up silver, tokens, and lots of other items and I have shared this site with several other detecting Brothers in Christ.

Have had the fun and pleasure of detecting with detecting club members and with CMD forum members. Detecting with Iron Brigade members and even with new people I had never met before.


What is my best site? The best is any that I go to - whether I find anything old or not or even if I find nothing, the things God shares with me when I am detecting is always the best site for me.

The best site I everhunted was a old house that was no longer there found over 20 oldies there . Now there is a new house on part of it, found all that witha bounty hunter tracker and sharpshooter II. I wish that house was not there I would ask to hunt it with my minelab. I found all those coins in a 50 ft square.
