What software do you use for storing all your images ??

This may appear to be a stupid question but after you all have taken your images and want to upload them on your computer what software do you use,the reason i ask is that say one year you have a Canon camera and use the software with that camera then say after 18 months you change over to a Nikon camera then that would mean another camera specific software change or can you just install one software then just plug any camera in using the usb cable and it is all directed to the one software.

Or do you not need one,not sure if Windows has a universal image storing ability in built ??

Any help on this one would be a great help.

If you just want to store the photos on your computer then I use Windows My Pictures. I don't bother installing the software that comes with the cameras, its just there if you want to plug your camera in or use their photo editing software. Plus, installing all of their software can lead to changes in your computer that you may not want if you are not careful.

Many thanks for your help,i took a few shots yesterday and plugged the camera in and everything works a treat,its alot easier than i had 1st thought,after i had uploaded a couple of dozen trial images then plugged the external hard drive in and that also backed up as it should.

So everything is all sorted out,i wont be able to get out again till the weekend as the weather over here in the UK is pretty dire at the moment,but it will take me a while to get use too all the various functions on the camera.
