What Target ID Are You Getting For Steel War Pennies ?

E-Trac-Ohio

Well-known member
Hi Guy's - Just wanted to ask what target ID numbers your getting on the Steel War Pennies ?

Thanks, Mark

Curious as the the reason for asking. In the ground, they will be rusty iron junk signals. The only ones I've dug were in holes with other coins. They were, for the most part completely rusty and unidentifiable slugs. I can grab a unrusted one off my desk and go out and test it, but that's really not going to tell you much as far as finding them in the ground.

I have never found one but the Etrac emuator has it hitting at 35-42 to 44. Let us know what you get Nick.

Thanks for the replies.
Like most of you I have hundreds of pennies here - I was just thinking that never found any steel pennies - just wondered if any of you guy's found any that were not wiped out.

HH --- Mark

Been doing this a lot of years and I've found remnants of what I thought were steel pennies sandwiched between other wheaties and nickels of that era, but never one that could be identified as a penny. Can't imagine anybody finding one except in a cache of coins in mason jar or the like.

Tested one just now. Very jumpy signal in the FE numbers. Bounced around from 19-24 to 26-25, but obviously a rusted one in the ground is going to be way different. Also, tested some three cent nickel coins for someone else and they came in as 12-05 and 12-07, not numbers anywhere near what I would normally dig.
