Had a permission hunt today where an old homestead used to be (most likely 1890s and torn down 1960s). No coins but one interesting find was this piece, only shows increments from 80 to 110 and I think brass. No other markings. Google search doesn’t show but I may not be wording it right.
It appears to be an incubation ( ex. Chicken eggs) thermometer.
To the right you can see the letter “H” this is the first letter to the word “high”.
Below there should be 103 ( for degrees in temperature)
Below the 103 there is the word “ low”
That is an incubator thermometer as Jim stated above.
I found one some years ago that has a similar scale.
If you look closely at yours, you will see some graduations just above the 100-degree mark.
This is the optimum temperature to maintain.
That was amazing! When I was a kid we had a brooder house with a big hood that went over the chicks to keep them warm. I had no idea what the object was though.
