I think the Deus control box is not the answer to more depth , it will most likely be updated software wise for years and every time you change something that means juggling memory about.
Any improvements will come in the coils which are the parts that give depth , the coil sends the info straight to the box .
The next coil is likely to be a multi freq coil maybe elliptical then that will take on FBS on the beach , if there is anything that i would like then that is ET tones on the Deus.
The reason for XP being a winner over the last 10 or so years with the Goldmaxx and now the Deus is that Alain is a detectorist and knows what people want like Vik Fiveash who made Red Heat's till his passing in 2007 .
Minelab , Fisher , Whites , Garrett and others have all gone too commercialized and it seems to be all about selling at a as high price as possible to pay the shareholders .
They have great machines but they have fallen behind , Whites make their machines or at least the top end with metal boxes still , Garrett has not brought out a replacement for the 2500 which think has not been the best of sellers , and Minelab's FBS is 16 years old although updated to the CTX its still pretty much the same as an Explorer with many more functions "software" , there doesn't seem to be many genuinely new ideas these days and thats why when XP brought out the Deus all wireless they stole the show and no one has caught up and may not !
Minelab seem to be more than happy building very expensive very heavy machines that wear people down and they and Whites and Garrett seem to be alike in that way and their capabilities , Fisher , Teknetics are more like XP in performance though not build .
Bounty Hunter , C.Scope , Tesoro , Laser and many other companies compete on the lower end of the markets , probably trying to make in roads into the Garrett Ace share !
There are lots of new E.European machines out there that i have not included but they are all similar to the others in one way or another.
I think Minelab have got the Go Find about right in idea but construction is pure pants , hope for better with the Terra replacement .
Other than the time for getting out to detect i think there are two things that will keep people loyal to brands and that is a price that is justifiable compared to the finds rate and the weight of the machines .
Even more than the wireless part i think its the weight that sells the Deus , most high end detectors are very similar for depth though not target i.d. and separation "recovery".
Well done Alain and XP but now complete the package with a couple of nice Multi Freq coils .
