I have been looking into getting a sutable alternate to the stock 10.5 inch coil for my SE. now the choice is between the 11inch pro coil or the Platypus coil 8.5" x 11.5" any sugestoins in the difference. Benifits and draw backs? thanks for any info.

I can only speak to the Minelab 11" pro coil. I bought it when they were first available and immediately sold my 10.5" coil when they were worth more than a paper weight. You really can not go wrong with the 11" coil. It has excellent separation. I use it in the worst iron conditions and am able to pick out the good targets. This is the only coil I have and have not even thought about getting another. It is the best all purpose coil for the Minelabs.

11" pro coil, hands down. Then get a WOT for the beach.

I havent seen a beach in 13 years. LOL looks like the 11 inch is the way to go.

What they all said about the Pro coil is correct, it separates like you wouldn't believe. The 11" has a very narrow width band that makes it excellent for separating targets, you "wiggle" it about 2" and it does its thing, also pinpointing is a snap. I just added a 6" EXcellerator to my 11" for the REALLY trashy sites. One site I am hunting now gets me 7 or 8 iron nulls per swing so I really needed a smaller coil, after its first trial run this Friday, its a keeper too. HH Joe

I added the 11 in to my Explorer II and the wt difference, depth and separation is amazing.
