Where did all the metal detectors go.

Most all of them are except for the tall wooden ships. I built a 4 1/2 foot long HMS Victory wooden ship model which took me 2 years to build. I found some wood from the actual Victory ship from England and used it to build numerous parts of the model. I donated the HMS Victory along with a mahogany case to the local Library where I live.

Yes, i neglected to mention the clad... gas money. I use to do over $1,000 a years. I live at the Jersey shore.
Place is packed all summer. If Im lucky, maybe a few hundred this year. Between the use of plastic and phones, and the fact the whole Jersey Shore was replenished
after hurricane Sandy, its tough to invest in new equipment. In the past, between gold, silver and coins, my equipment hasn't cost me a penny except for time.

When I first started detecting,25 years ago, I found my 1st gold ring by week 3. It was a huge signet ring with no initials. I still didnt know what I was doing at that time.
I was just 'thumbing' the discrimination knob to find nickels !!! Troy Shadow X2 paid in full !!!!

Donna
same, I was doing about $1k a year in clad, until covid, now maybe200-300. Ring count is down also. Arizona.

My personal opinion is that you really only need 3 a pulse and two multi frequency detectors one as a backup The new multis can be also used as a single frequency also I own a Manticore and a D2
Mark
I have a PI, for prospecting, a manticore, and a legend, the legend is a closet queen, I have issues navigating the screen, perhaps it is just my mind is used to minelabs. I had a deus 1,( that I sold) for me it was also easy to navigate.

I'd Love to see a thread of your's on those builds.
Close up's. Details of each build.
Your work is nothing shy of Impressive !!

I've built hundreds of models and own none.
Being a pyro in my youth.
Eventually leading to EOD.
My youngest is fourth generation retired.

I burned or blew up every ship, plane ,car and railroad models.
Working each week in my teens just to afford some more models to destroy.
Trying desperately to make them look realistic.
Stupid. Absolutely.
Only now in old age do I see the wasted time.
Sadly my camera skills were miserable during those days.
I believe I have one image somewhere of the RC Bismarck going high order dissemination.
Stupid I was. Though it was fun.

Yes I could really enjoy a separate thread here on the forum of your very nice builds

PM me a link. I don't want to miss it.

Hey Odan, I'll be doing a post about this but since you're homebound and bored, thought I'd give you an advance heads-up. I was just down at the beaches in DE for a couple days, wife and I planned the trip before Hurricane Erin was a thing. I wanted to try out my "new to me" Dual Field PI. Checked in Sunday night, so I hit a private beach just a block from them Sunday evening. My goal was to find trash, good stuff as well, but I wanted to hear what trash sounded like on the PI. My 2nd signal was a penny, so I was on the board, lol.

Next day, wife and I took our dog to Fenwick Island Beach, one of the beaches on my detecting rotation schedule for over 10 years. Wife and I also got married on that beach. But conditions weren't good for detecting. We were already getting the effects of Hurricane Erin heading up the coast, and sand on the wet was soft with large granules, feet would sink in the sand, indicating that the sand was coming in, not going out. Since we're in the beginning stages of the upcoming Hurricane, beaches aren't currently ideal but will probably be much better on Thurs & Friday, hopefully the Hurricane will strip a lot of that sand. Unfortunately, I won't be able to get back down, so looks like I was just a bit too early. Anyway, on this hunt, I shot some video's so everyone could see the conditions that were building. In one of the video's, I also show Coin Beach, which is famous in the detecting community, I used to dream about detecting Coin Beach when I was a kid. The problem was, I didn't have anywhere to post the videos, which I would need to do so I could have a link to share. SO, I discovered that I had an unused YouTube channel from 2011 that I never used. I renamed it to be more targeted towards detecting and posted my videos on my "new" channel, lol.

My Channel is called: Digging da Beeps, here's the link if you're bored and would like to watch a few short videos, would appreciate a Like on the vid's if you can: https://www.youtube.com/@diggingdabeeps

Thank you sir. Yeah, foam would be great, but I was using my cell phone with the built in mics. I noticed if I pointed the phone more north, that the wind noise was greatly reduced, but when I moved to a more southern area, the wind noise intensified, probably due to the wind hitting the mics in the phone directly. But in this case, since I was showing that we were getting the start of Hurricane Erin, I think the wind noise helps illustrate the power of the winds we were getting. I'd be happy to help you with uploading videos to YouTube, but there are already tons of videos on YouTube that show how and could explain much better than I. You'd also be able to see the steps visually, which always makes learning easier, at least for me, lol.

Before you can upload any videos, first thing is that you need to either have or set up a new channel, it's free so no worries. You have to provide some basic info, pick your channel name, provide your email address, just a few basic things like that. YouTube will check the name you want for your channel and won't let you publish if the name is already taken. My channel isn't new; I had set it up in 2011 but never used and totally forgot about it. So, all I had to do was to change the name of the channel, first one was taken so had to pick another, updated some info, add a pic for the header and a pic for my profile, then hit "publish". Once it was published, I then could upload videos.

There's a "Create" button at the top right of my channel page. Anytime I want to add a new video, just click on the "Create" button and a window opens. You have to give your video a title, description, and hit the upload button to get your video into YouTube. After uploading the video, while you're adding more info, YouTube will do a copyright check, to make sure you're not showing other people's work. You also have to click if the video is for kids or adults. If for kids, all kinds of federal rules need to be followed. You also have to check a box that tells YouTube that your video content is real. Or if you've used AI to generate fake people or whatever, you have to let them know that as well. It's not really hard at all, but first thing is ya gotta either have or set up a new channel. Once you have a channel, uploading new videos is pretty simple.

Thanks SS.
I have a channel I think. My names on it.
Never used except for viewing.
Do you pay for uploading videos ?
Presently I'm just trying to show drone pics and videos to friends here on the forum.
Nauti has a thread. Drone
My files are way to large to post here.

No, there's no cost to upload videos or to set up a channel.

And you also have a choice, you can make any of your videos viewable to the public, or if you'd like, you can also make certain videos private, where only people you send the link to can view, but it won't show up on YouTube searches for the general public.
