While using the Ace 250 last night...... 500 pennys...and a wheat! and a ring, well sort of.....

Found a $5 dollar bill stuck to the curb in the ice! Only $145.00 left and she's paid for!. Also I scored a 1945(4-5 inch) wheat as well, closing in on the silver! My heart jumped when I pulled a "ring" from about 7" it was one of those brass curtin rings darn it!
So far so good, I must have really done a number on these curbs with my Old Sov XS and the Classic B1Tesoro cause no dimes or Quarters yet! (the fact I'm finding anything here is good cause I was bored and pounded this area) Something else bothering me is no nickels yet??? Should be some?? When I can hunt in THE DAYLIGHT(Garret put a backlight on the :rage: display, also give us 24 segments or even 17 like the GTA 350 would help!) I'll watch the meter and start digging some of the "close" to nickle sigs. Still damm cold for me, but it beats the hell out of sitting on my butt playing the PS3/Xbox360!

Most of the time unless the Ace 250 signals for a nickel consistently, it won't be a nickel. Usually its just a piece of foil or a pull tab if the signal jumps a lot. On some hunts I don't even find one. The 250 usually has an easier time finding nickels on tot lots.

I only found a nickel with my ace 250 with it on top of ground in grass, but I used an MXT and found a handful of nickels where I had been with the ace, so I dont know what I was doing wrong but I sure missed alot with my Ace.I always find nickels with MXT

I dug tons of nickels with my Ace 250. A higher percentage than I do with my 2500. With your experience I wouldn't worry, I bet you don't miss much! As UW says, if it ain't there you can't find it.

I like the fewer segments on the 250 for certain hunts. It took me a long time to realize that with my 2500 I had to dig those, iffy, middle range signals or I would miss some keepers. When I started using Garretts I dug every signal, then I started skipping iffy targets, and now I'm back to digging it all again, at least most of the time. I let my eyes do the discriminating.

Nice hunt pal, your way ahead of me with your 09 finds. Still to much SNOW.

My old Tesoro Golden I had years back was the nickel finder. I've got a pic somewhere of the pile of nickels it found in one summer.
