WHITES 6000D SERIES 2

DEWALTCARP

New member
Good Day my MD friends,

I just purchased my second analog detector and need some help.

1. I have a 5000D series 2 and a 6000D series 2. Except for the difference in size of the Display Screen, they appear to be identical. What really is the difference?

2. With help from many of you, I got my 5000D dialed in. I am impressed, it's a killer on coins. ( which led me to the purchase of a 6000D series 2)

So here's the deal.....Either I'm an idiot or there is some thing wrong with my 6000D. If I dial it in with the same settings as my 5000D it just does not respond the same way.

What is really trying my patience is this.... No matter how I tune it, the needle will fluctuate without any tone response.... Raising and lowering the coil will produce the same results. Is the TONE and

NEEDLE on the 6000D made to be able to operate independent of one another. It just really bugs the heck out of me seeing the meter respond without hearing any tone.

If the 6000D needs a different way to set up than I really need your help guys. Thanks Gene

Gene,

The differences between the 5000 and the 6000 is that the 6000 can get an extra inch or two in GEB Max and when you push the button on the handle, this in turn switches it into a All Metal when pinpointing, it also gives a Depth (in inches) of your target, whereas the 5000 only has an intensity meter. As far as your needle fluctuating as you said, are you doing your set-up inside the house or outside? The main cause of this is that there might be alot of EMI in your immediate area, i.e., overhead transmission lines, transformers overhead and or ones placed on the ground. I've used both of the 5000 and 6000 ser. 2 models for years and have experienced the same situation as you have. These older machines were notorious with EMI's. Simply, I'd just move to a different location and do the setup and re-tune in GEB Norm. Always put your loop at waist high level, make sure that you have the setting set to GEB Norm, hold the button in and bring up the tuner(threshold), release button, lower coil to the ground and do your manual ground balance. From there you can hunt in GEB Norm, GEB Max, etc. The one I like is to hunt in GEB Disc.

Hope this helps,

TC-NM

Your 6000 might need a tune-up, a loose or bad ground connection is not uncommon contributing to the EMI.

Sounds like Corosion on the board or on the coil connector ....it tends to build up over the years...Whites can clean and retune it and it will run better than new.

I had a 6000D Series 2. Without additional comment let me say that to get maximum performance you had to put new meaning into the words 'motion detector.' Those of you who have used them know what I am talking about.
