Who is going to give us what we want?

I think the business is up for grabs. White's has been staying in the shadows as of late and they could really come out with something that might just be the new kid in town. They have done it before. As for Fisher, when the F75 does come out and lives up to what it is going to do no one will be even dealing with why it took so long. If it doesn't pan out for the F75 then the T2 will start selling even more detectors. I think the T2 will have a brother at some point and I hope it is a coin machine that is designed for coins and not so much for relics.

It is kind of sad and funny how some of the big companies don't have a clue to what is going on in our hobby. I think once you find a machine that lives up to what you want then new machines really don't mean much unless they are so different and so hi tech that nothing can match it.

The T2 has to be the new kid in town and is already a classic. It seems that Dave designed it more after some of the classic older machines but with depth and a lot of different ways to set it up. Some of the older machines were used for ghost towns that were loaded with iron and a lot of the newer machines are not. But Dave did it all with the T2 you can hunt any iron laced area and find the good stuff. I know some of you have other machines and you have found ways to deal with unmasking but the T2 is made for unmasking and if you don't mind the sound of iron all the time then you are in for a treat as many of you already know!

Troy has not had a new machine for a few years now and on their forum no one really cares about a new machine they all seem so happy with what they have because it does what they need it to do and they get results with their finds. And same goes for Nautilus. No one seems to be asking when the newest machine is coming out.

So lets just wait and see and use what we have and enjoy the hobby while we can. It will be interesting as time goes on because all the big companies are all due to bring something out. I am happy I got the T2 because it has turned out to be a very cool machine. Easy to use maybe too easy. Deep and loves to unmask targets in iron. Not many detectors can match it at relic hunting. And I learn more each time I use it. I use my ears more then my eyes on this machine and it goes so deep that I have to carry a shovel now on empty lots

an improved Fisher 1270. Quicker recovery that allows a better audio response on closely co-located targets and tone ID that works (somewhat) in heavy iron conditions. The 1270 is quick but not all closely co-located non-ferrous responses are a clean smooth beep.

It seems all the manufacturers are looking at better iron disc which is a good thing. I like the idea behind what XP did by adding an adjustable volume control (is it really a volume control or some kind of additional filtering?) for the iron responses. Any of you UK guys try the XP Adventis? How is it on high conductors in iron?

Hello Jack........(luv the 'handle'..."jackpine savage")

Your dad wasn't called Jack the Ripper by any chance? (just joking).

If you want to get a first rate comment on ANY XP machines then our UK expert on such is 'Norfolk Wolf' (John).

He has in depth, hands on experience with the Goldmax series and the XP Aventice especially.

He will tell you all you wish to know.

Send him an e-mail with your queries.

John Lynn
E-mail Address:

He has also written a book that's a best seller in the UK and the continent (EU).

I think he has also just completed filming for a new DVD, which I also believe may include the Aventice.

He is the original 'WOLF', a title which was inspired by his first detected gold coin depicting the Norfolk wolf.

He's exploring the T2 now. He is a man attuned to the subtleties of the audio response of a unit....A fascinating guy to listen to when he relates his experiences........MattR.UK.

are you saying that the t-2 isn't good for coins or that its just better for relics. the fisher 1266 was a relic machine but coin hunters did real good with it too. thanks.

It is fine for coins I don't use it at parks for coins just relic hunting and I find coins there.

Thanks for the reply Matt. I will email John.

Jackpine is a reference to a tree found in this area.

Tom

why do you not use it in parks. from what i have been reading i hunt some parks that should give up some great coins to the t-2.

The T2 and it numbers are way off comparied to my other detectors so a seventy can be a flip top I am just us to my other detectors. Relic hunting I listen to the repeatable tone the number doesn't matter.

Yes John is a master and a real gentleman,I phoned him before for advise on my Compass coinscanner,he is probably the most respected detectorist in the UK.

These are the patents listed on the SE

US 4890064; US 5537041; US 5506506

They don't list the patents on the others but here are a lot of them:

http://www.google.com/patents?vid=USPAT4942360&id=94UbAAAAEBAJ&dq=patent:4942360&as_drrb_ap=q&as_minm_ap=1&as_miny_ap=2007&as_maxm_ap=1&as_maxy_ap=2007&as_drrb_is=q&as_minm_is=1&as_miny_is=2007&as_maxm_is=1&as_maxy_is=2007

I cannot tell when they expire but I have been told it is soon and that is probably one thing that other companies are waiting for. It will be interesting...

The numbers read a lot higher then my other detectors. They both have meters. I have taken the T2 out to a few parks and if they are not to trashy then it is a fun machine but it hits on the smallest targets and it avarages targets more so then my other detectors so I use it for relic hunting

Chuck, I think the T2 is just as good a detector on coins as relics. I mainly relic hunt, but I will coin hunt every chance I get. I've had it out at the beach once, this winter, and I'm looking forward to this summer so I can really put it through the paces. I hunted a small place last Sunday with Sens. 50, disc. 80, and mode 2+ and this is what I turned up in about 2 hours.

An that was digging in hard ground. Rocks and gravel under the grass, it was the parking area for the drive-in. I had to use my digging knife to get through the rock before I could use my shovel. For the first time I really had the T2 out for coin hunting, I was impressed. This is the best all around detector I've every owned. I don't care what kind of detector they come out with I'm not giving up my T2, end of story.

It's John Lynn, not Burke :)
I've known John for many years, a highly skilled and knowledgeable man. I'm glad to hear he's started on a T2 now :)

I remember him telling me his family originally came from Ireland and were called Burke, anyway top man he is indeed!
