Why are so many ATP's for sale?

I'm very interested in the ATP. I've read more than enough testimonies by respected diggers to decide that it's probably going to be my next machine. My question, therefore, is this: why are so many of these machines up for sale? The only reason I can see is that it's too challenging for some folks to figure out. There are lots of other machines that appear to be much more complicated, but they are also much more expensive. I wonder if there's a correlation. Any thoughts? I'm thinking of trading in my MXT.

Well I can't speak for anyone else here, but I for one have gone through a few machines. All of the machines I have owned have been excellent. However I have gotten that proverbial hair and decided I needed something else to find the treasure that is just waiting for me out there. The grass is always greener over there, ya know. I think many other detectorists suffer from this illness as well . I just became the proud owner of an AT Pro, and so far I really like it and am very impressed with it. I think you will be very happy as well if you decide to purchase one. I recommend Chuck over at Indian Nations Detectors if you don't already have a dealer in mind. Good luck and HH!

For one thing it outsells most other units. Since there's more of them out there there's bound to be more people selling them. I've had three dealers tell me it's always in their top three sales wise if not #1. It's not a hard machine to figure out or run. ALL machines have their nuances and the longer you use them the more you learn.

The pro is a great detector, it is really easy to use. It might take some practice getting good with the iron audio feature, but its worth it...and fun!

I love my at pro will av it for many years the only reason al upgrade in years to come is if Garrett make a even better machine at good value like they av with the at I did a check on some well known sites after reading this sales sites that is and none are for sale second hand not even on the biggest world wide selling site eBay so just shows not that many ppl are parting with them as you might of first thought

Kraykepler brings up a point that I had been wondering about myself. I've been thinking of getting an ATP also and during my research I did notice quite a lot for sale. Now I don't have any Garrett machines other than the ProPointer so I don't know this for sure but I remember hearing something about the first machines having issues with something or other. Whatever the issues were they resolved them since then and now they are great detectors. That may be the reason we saw what seemed like a large amount going up for sale. Just my thought.

I believe many people want a "turn it and and go" machine. Other than reading the owners manual and taking the time to watch some excellent videos from Garrett, I believe all other excuses are taken away from this machine. I own a high end machine and purchased the AT Pro as a "fresh water wader" tool. I must say I'm impressed with the performance and the results with it. I find myself using it more and more on land. It is a very user friendly detector. I reckon it all comes down to what the definition is of "too challenging".

After trying just about every vintage , modern detector produced since 1969 I find myself still not 100% happy in my search for my perfect detector.Great for the manufacture, bad for my 401k. The Pro is a great choice. Affordable, hunt anywhere, easy to use, respectable depth. The tones are pleasing to the ear. In an imperfect world, my world, I would highly recommend it.

One thing for sure, the Pro Mode audio is either a love or hate issue with many hunters. But if you will take a few hours and listen closely you will start to hear some of the quality nuances it has to offer. It kinda reminds me of the Tesoro line of machines which have a very high quality audio output.

Ya its a numbers thing. There ar alot of them out there. I can say I see just as many F75s and E-tracs for sale also. Get a At you will like it. Its really a all purpose machine and it is easy on the wallet.

That is how I got mine. I found an ad on Craigslist and all it said was AT Pro $300.00. I wasn't expecting much but figured how bad could it be. Found out the original owner bought it only to find lost wedding bands for a family member. Not sure why or how he chose the AT Pro but I am glad he did. When I called to transfer the warranty I found it was less then 6 months old. The coil had a small dent in it and it looked like a small crack in the dent. Garret replaced it for me at no cost. Best $300 I have spent in a long time.
I can tell you that I did have about 30 hours of time swinging an F2 when I got my AT Pro. So I had some experience but not as much as most. The first hour or so that I used it I was a little overwhelmed. So I can see where a person with no experience that bought one of these could put it on the shelf really fast. Especially if they don't spend the time to watch some videos or talk to somebody about how to use it.

I've an at pro and for me it's a keeper, If there are many for sale used all the better. Reccomend u see a dealer &try 1 out.

I think maybe it's because of all the recent TV shows and YouTube videos where the owners make it look like a gravy machine to use or the video editing make it look easy. So people buy them then don't do the research. So they want to sell them when they aren't finding anything. Haha!

I always wonder how many detectors are sitting in closets, attics, garages, under beds, etc. I've gone to my share of yard sales and rarely have I seen any for sale. (Now I know there's plenty on line) I was at a garage sale couple years ago, spotted a dusty, very old Bounty Hunter on a back shelf. "How much , I asked? Oh that's not for sale ! This couple been living about 2 blocks from the beach for 15 years. Never stepped on it. Said their going to try it out someday. Looking at them, think they better hurry. Lol
Anyways, there got to be millions of all kinds out there. Well for me right now, if it came to picking one detector. It would be the ATP, with all coils.

I've had three ATP's. About once a year I get a wild hair to try a newer machine. So far I always go back to the ATP. My other machines don't measure up---so far.

My girlfriend and I absolutely love our AT pros. We have many high end machines and each has its strengths. But our first AT pro paid for itself the first day of using it while detecting a new to us park. I found 4 gold rings that day then my girlfriend wanted to try it and she found 2 gold rings and 1 gold charm which is great because after that day she was hooked now we both go detecting. The AT pro for us is our go to park/ sports field/ freshwater machine. They are very good in freshwater lakes for finding the gold rings chains and small gold earrings. All that said I think a lot of different machines seem to be up for sale at one time or another no machine is gonna please everyone 100% and there is way to many variables as to why any particular machine doesn't suit ones needs.

I think people just naturally progress to machines with more options once they have mastered to AT Pro.. I went from the Ace 350 to the AT Pro then to the E Trac then CTX3030 and also the Deus. Do not get me wrong, I still like my AT Pro and have made many great finds with it with over 400 hours on the machine but was ready to learn another machine. I went back over many spots that I hunted with the AT Pro and still was pulling some nice finds from them.

I had a Garrett AT Pro , but when the warranty came up I sold the older one and got another ATP. Really like my ATP and the big heavy weights all have new homes

Maybe they are selling their ATPro now, before the big sell off, to purchase the new version with wireless headphones.
I may have been dreaming, but I believe I read about the Z-Lynk being built into future detectors.
