why do you love silver so much???

It's shiny, valuable to others and makes a nice high-pitched *plink* sound when dropped that is pleasing to my ears. :)

They don't make them anymore, (silver that is) at least not for general circulation. And, they don't make beautiful patterns anymore!.........NGE

It is like holding a piece of History in your hand that you retrieved from the past. The older the better!!!

There beautiful and they took real pride and time designing them unlike some of the more modern coins!! There a part of history you just don't see anymore unless you find them or buy them from somewhere or someone.
They clean up real nice and don't seem to get all cruddy like other coins after being in the ground for a long time.
They have REAL value and when the Dollar is run into the ground they will be Very Valuable and people will accept them for food and gas and clothes and such to survive like all through out history!!
They aren't made anymore and they are not something that just anyone has laying around anymore. Way more plentiful than gold coins and can be bartered with way easier than gold will be to do.
If others catch on you will see detectorists everywhere in the not too distant future.
So get out and find all the goodies now while you can before they write laws stopping us from doing so so we have to use their worthless paper to survive!!

They will always have a value, unlike current clad coinage. There are thousands of silver targets for every gold one out there, making them much easier to find.

I've always liked the look and feel of a silver coin. It's fun to see that glint of silver in the bottom of the hole. And let's face it, unless you find a key date, Lincoln cents and Jefferson nickels just aren't worth much more than face value. Clad coins just help pay for the gas.

I agree with Agseeker, I suppose part of the excitement for me is that there is a lot less silver out there than coppers so it is exciting to find them.

Modern coins are junk - I found a 2010 Zinc Cent at a beach yesterday that was half rotted away already !

When you find a Silver coin that's been in the ground for 50 - 100 or 150 years or more - it will usually have a nice shine to it - just like the day it was lost.

Silver has history - Silver has class - and Silver is valuable. I don't think anyone in this hobby ever gets tired of seeing a shining silver coin in the bottom of a hole !

this is good I agree 100%

Just think, I00 years from now detectorists won't have to worry about digging up zinc pennies -- they will all have corroded away to dust by then. Just think how valuable a 1964D Roosevelt dime will be worth by then.
